You were working late at work. You were exhausted. You were fed up. Really, you just wanted to curl up in bed and watch netflix. That was all you wanted.

With very little motivation, you stood up from your desk and picked up your bag before heading over to the lift. You were about to press the button when the doors opened and five men charged out. They took one look at you before the man closest to you grabbed you, pinning you against the wall. Through the gloved hand that covered your mouth you mumbled an indignant cry but it was not heard.
The man had his face close to your right ear but you thankfully couldn't feel his breath through the mask he more to cover the lower half of his face.
He held your arms behind your back, pressing you hard against the wall as he drawled, "Are you with SHIELD, sweetheart?" His hand uncovered your mouth.
"What's SHIELD?" You mumbled into the wall.
You heard laughter behind you, but not from the man holding you.
"Yes, because if she were a SHIELD agent I'm sure she'd tell you instead of taking us by surprise. Idiot." The man who'd laughed spoke sarcastically.
You were turned around so it was your back against the wall and you could see the men.
Your captor had big brown eyes and his hair was pulled back from his head with a black strip of fabric, not unlike the headbands you'd worn as a child.
A taller but more built man stepped forward, looking you up and down, but not in a flirty way. He was assessing you to see if you were a threat, and you found that slightly unnerving.
"She's not with SHIELD. Leave her." He turned away, his greasy chin length blond hair swishing slightly. It struck you as odd that all these men had relatively long hair and all wore black and half face masks.
The man who'd first grabbed you pointed his gun at your head from a meter away, his eyebrows raised slightly. You saw his finger begin to squeeze the trigger and you stared him down.

Suddenly, the lift opened again and a man barrelled out, dealing the man with the gun a kick straight to the neck. The man fell but the bullet still flew, and immediately a pain like hot barbed wire was in your lower abdomen, just above your right hip. You yelped in pain and your hands instinctively flew to your wound. Your hands shook, covered in your own blood as you slid down the wall.
Everything became a blur of red. All you saw was red. Red like the pain. The blood.
And then he was there, his hands on your shoulders, his sweet voice telling you it would all be okay as he scooped you into his arms.
He caried you into the lift, carried you all the way down. To the ambulance. He laid you down, his hands so gentle.
"Thank you." You murmered as he was pushed out of the way. He wasn't family they said, as they drove you away from your hero.

You woke in bed. Just where you'd wanted to be, except this wasn't the same. It wasn't your bed. Not the same.
"Miss?"
You were pulled out of your thoughts to a voice on your left. Him.
His hair was a darker shade of blond, he wore blue. Suddenly you knew who he was. You knew who had saved you. Steve Rogers himself. You blinked slowly, making sure it was real.
"I- I'm sorry I wasn't quick enough." He said, an air of politeness about him.
You stared in disbelief, "You saved my life."
He smiled. "I did, Miss."
Smiling weakly, you attempted to prop yourself up to get a better view of him.
He stood up to help you before offering his hand, "Steve Rogers."
"(Y/N Y/L/N)" you said, placing your hand in his. He shook it, blushing slightly.
"Your family is here. I should go." He announced, lifting your hand. "It was a pleasure to meet you." He kissed your hand gently.
You blushed fiercely, "It was a pleasure to meet and be saved by you too."
"Any time." He winked at you, going to the doorway.
"I might take you up on that offer." You teased, smiling.
"I'm counting on it."

Okay, so there's Steve. I actually think this turned out better than I thought it would.
