You worked in a coffee shop and he was one of your regulars. He'd come in, order his coffee which seemed to be different everyday and sit down in the far corner, watching the passing people outside.
One Monday morning, he came in as usual, smiled at you and sat in his corner, casually sipping his coffee but he was soon followed by some unwanted customers.
It was your ex-boyfriend and his friends. They ordered their drinks and as he was taking it from your hand he squeezed the cup tightly, causing the paper cup to burst and shower hot liquid everywhere.
"Oi! That's a shame!" He said loudly, shaking the hot liquid off his hand, "Thanks for giving my mates their drinks free as compensation!"
His friends cheered and you glared at him numbly. Why couldn't he just leave you alone?
"Oh, and I'll expect you'll see me after your shift as well." He blew you a kiss and turned to leave the shop, only to be met by a slightly shorter man you recognised as Clint.
"I expect she won't." He said flatly, "And I also expect you to pay for those drinks."
Your ex laughed, smirking at his friends. "You got some funny expectations mate. Move!" He shoved past Clint, causing him to stumble slightly.
You heard your ex mutter something under his breath and desperately hoped Clint hadn't heard.
He seemed to ignore it if he did hear and instead placed a brown leather wallet on the counter, pulling out a $100 note and handing it to you.
"Here." He said.
"It wasn't that much. Besides, they're not your drinks." You said, managing a smile.
"It's not my money." Clint said quietly.
You found yourself laughing.
"Oh my god!" You said in disbelief.
Clint looked shocked, "I can give it back?"
You grinned at him, "No, no. It's just I didn't expect that."
He smiled, "Well, I'm just gonna go drop the wallet outside so he can think he dropped it but when I get back and your shift's over, can I take you for a drink? Maybe at a bar? Nothing fancy."
You smiled, "That would be lovely. I'm (y/n) by the way."
He nodded, "Yeah it's on your nametag. I'm Clint."
You nodded, "Yeah I wrote it on all your coffees."
He laughed, "Oh yeah, you did. Well I'll be back in a minute." He said, walking out of the shop to the ring of the door.
