We were not meant to end up together. Right there, when I knew he never loved me, it was evident that that was the end of it all. It's been five years now, I haven't heard of him since that night. I was better off without him. He never valued me for who I am.

Now, I'm walking along Jeju Island. I'm on vacation and it's my third day here, I needed my usual alone time. Every year, I would travel alone to take a break. I've always wanted to go to Korea, and I figured this is the perfect year. I made the right decision.

Then, as I kept walking I came across a familiar face. My heart started to race. It was Gaeb. He was with someone as he walked. He was holding a child's hand. It was a little girl. There was a woman following them from behind, she had a huge smile on her face as she carried a pink bag with her, assuming it was the child's. I tried my best to ignore them and avoid, but then he spotted me.

He ran towards me while holding the little girl, I tried to keep composure but it was hard to do so. I held onto myself, thinking it would only be small talk. I would get through this, but I looked at his face and he hadn't changed a bit. He was still good looking, I must admit. Everything started to come back.

"Amee? Is that you?" He asked and he stared at me in disbelief. I nodded and gave him a slight smile. "It really is you! Wow, it's been years. Oh, this is Emalia. My daughter. And this is Daphnee, my wife."

I looked at them in shock, I couldn't believe what I was hearing but I managed to give them a friendly wave. The kid looked so much like Gaeb. I felt... happy for him. I guess he got to pull things together and moved on. The way I did.

"I can't stay long, I have a lot of places to go. It's
nice bumping the into you, Gaeb. Nice meeting you Daphnee, and you as well little angel, you're so pretty Emalia." I smiled at her and pinched her cheek. She looked lovely.

As I walked away, I could hear Gaeb and walk towards me. He left Daphnee and Emalia for a moment so he could talk to me in private.

"What?"

"I'm sorry..."

"For what?"

"For what I did to you years ago, it never left my mind. You were right, I was jerk for doing that. For using you. I shouldn't have used you to heal me, it never really worked. When we separated, I was convinced I needed help so I contacted my psychiatrist to help me get through trauma. Then, I met Daphnee. She changed me. I told her everything, I decided to live a life without keeping any secrets from her."

"That's great to hear Gaeb, I'm happy for you..."

"Thank you Amee, for helping me through it. I'm sorry if I hurt you. But because of you, I learned how to love genuinely. Without keeping secrets. I'm sorry if I failed to do that when we were together."

"It's okay Gaeb, as long as I know you've changed for the better. The past no longer matters."

"With the love you have given me Amee, I don't need to hide behind my lies anymore. No secrets left."

When we parted ways, I smiled to myself. It was the closure I've been long waiting for. I'm happy to see him change, although his lies have scarred me forever. But if I learned something through it all, it was that forgiveness is the key to healing and that doesn't mean you have to go back to those who hurt you... as long as you know you have unpacked all that baggage, you're good to go.

It's been a wonderful ride with all of you. Thank you for being with Ameelya and Gaeb as they navigate through life despite of the constant lies. Also, thank you for loving His Trilogy as much as I do. There are no words that can ever describe how thankful I am that I get to have people who appreciate the art I make with these.
