She woke up early again after having an amazing night. Ngalu slept so well and felt refreshed. She stepped out of her pod and breathed in the fresh morning air. She smiled, hearing the Ilu all the way from the water. The Ilu were the only beings up right now, along with Ngalu. She took a seat on her usual spot to watch the sunrise. It was still a little dark.

Lo'ak saw her. He started to watch her every morning. He'd always find himself wandering over to her, watching her from afar. But he didn't do that today. He walked up to her, quietly sitting down next to her.

Ngalu looked at the ground and smirked to herself before meeting eyes with him. 'Good morning, Lo'ak.'

'Morning, Lulu.' He said, surprising Ngalu with his choice of words.

'Lulu?' She laughed out loud. 'Lulu!' She couldn't contain herself as her belly started to hurt.

'What? I thought it was nice.' He said, unfazed by her laughter while smirking at her.

She chuckled. 'Alright, Lolo.'

Lo'ak smiled. That's cute. 'You look nice.' He said, surprising Ngalu yet again.

'Where did this sweet Lo'ak come from all of a sudden?' She asked him while laughing.

He shrugged. 'I guess you just bring it out of me.' He batted his eyelashes at her. Ngalu bursted out in laughter as did Lo'ak. He was joking, of course. 'But I wasn't lying, you do look good.' He said while looking into her big eyes.

'Thanks, Lolo.' She smiled.

They stared at each other a little too long, Ngalu got nervous and looked away. She could feel her cheeks burning up and she tried to cover it.

She faced the beautiful sunrise in front of her again, taking it in. He didn't move a single inch. 'You are supposed to look at the sunrise.' Ngalu smirked to herself. A rosy color appearing on her cheeks as Lo'ak watched her.

Lo'ak's gaze softened. 'I like this view a lot better.'

And so, they stayed like that for hours. Until the sun had completely risen from the waves.

Ngalu admiring the sunrise while Lo'ak admired her.

Lo'ak, Neteyam and Ngalu were sitting on a rock talking about all sorts of things. How their time here has been so far, how they like the food, how you pronounce anemone. The sun was hot and the trio jumped into the water to cool off once in a while. Neteyam always wanting to get out again to lay in the sun as Lo'ak and Ngalu only wanted to swim.

Then, someone blew on the horn. Ngalu's ears shot up as well as the boys. They shot a quick look at each other while diving in and swimming to the shore.

'What's going on?' Ngalu asked Tsireya and Aonung as they stood next to their parents. Ronal looked livid while Tonowari looked rather disappointed.

'You let him bond with the outcast?' Ronal yelled.

Ngalu immediately knew what she was talking about. It was about Payakan. The only thing she could do, was act like she didn't know anything. Deny, deny, deny. 'What are you talking about, mother?' She politely asked her.

'You know what I'm talking about. Payakan.' She said, fire burning in her eyes. It looked like she was about to rip their heads off.

Jake and Neytiri came to the scene. They were as confused as Ngalu and Lo'ak acted like they were. 'What about him?' Ngalu asked again.

'He is back, circling thee brothers rocks.' Tonowari added, rubbing the top of his nose.

'But you knew that already!' Ronal yelled, making all of their ears twitch.

'I'm sorry but—' Ngalu couldn't finish her sentence, Lo'ak already started talking.

'He saved my life.' He said, making sure not to get Ngalu involved.

Ngalu facepalmed. Little shit broke our cover, she thought.

'He is a killer!' Ronal yelled.

Tsireya was teary eyed and her ears were lowered while looking at the floor. She didn't like seeing Lo'ak getting scolded by her parents.

Ngalu sighed. Fuck. She's actually about to stand up for him. She closed her eyes for a second. 'It is true, he saved our lives.'

Lo'ak looked at her with a look in his eyes that said "what are you doing?" She didn't care, she felt the need to stand up for him.

'You knew?' Ronal got louder while Tonowari took a deep breath.

'You disappoint me, daughter.' He said while shaking his head.

Ronal grabbed her arm. 'Why didn't you tell us?'

Ngalu pulled her arm out of her mothers grip. 'Because you'd get angry, like you are right now!' She yelled. 'And it's not Lo'ak's fault, it is mine. He told me to stay away from Payakan but I didn't listen. And he isn't a killer, the Sky People are.' She told her, calmly for now.

'Are you insane?' Ronal yelled.

'Ngalu what are you-' Lo'ak couldn't finish his sentence as Ngalu continued to talk.

'No I am not, he saved our lives! You don't get to speak to Lo'ak like this.' Ngalu made clear.

'I think we can decide that for ourselves.' Ronal looked furious while Tonowari slowly took a step back.

Jake and Neytiri would eye each other every time after Ronal spoke.

'No, not this time. Lo'ak has every right to do whatever he wants to do. He's been so unhappy and now he finally found a little piece of light in his life after fleeing from his home. He has bonded with Tulkun. He is one of us now. And you know that too.' She raised her voice, making her statement clear to her parents. Everything she had to say, she said.

Tsireya looked at Ngalu with a puzzled look on her face. She came up for him. But she hates him. She speaks highly of him, like she knew what was going on in his life. It felt like she knew him better than Tsireya does. Then she noticed how he looked at her. He admired her. His gaze was soft and full of love. When Ngalu looked back at him, she returned his exact gaze. Telling him everything was going to be okay. She didn't even have to speak.
