Kaeya

Mondstadt - Albedo's house

After what he told me, it was more than clear to me that he was looking for something from me, whether it was material or not, and that it would not be an easy task.

Even as I was drunk, I managed to keep my consciousness, which is what I was looking for when I am in this state, in case, in a special situation, if something unexpected happens that I should be alert for.

- Kaeya: "(It's clear that you are up to something, and the feeling is that it's not that it will have a positive outcome)" I thought.

- Kaeya: "(I have to find some excuse to get out of there before he locks the door)".

Just then I heard the lock in the distance, which confirmed my strong suspicions of his plan and lowered the possibility of getting out of that place if he already locked it. I would have to act as natural as possible and try to avoid any objects or things he insisted on that made him look suspicious.

Just as I finished drawing conclusions, he came in with two cups of tea.

- Albedo: "Tea will help you in your current state, enjoy it."

I stared at his hands holding the two cups then set them down on the table in front of the couch. I couldn't deny that his tastes in interior decoration was very good and amazing, but for a moment I looked at that porcelain cup with inner fear.

- Kaeya: "No thanks, I don't feel like it, I can't even have another drop of drink."

He looked at me with eyes wide open, observing my silhouette up and down and then said:

- Albedo: "I don't know if you are telling the truth or if you are being polite and don't want to accept to drink it just for simply being me." He said, questioning me with a look of his own.

- Kaeya: "Heh, only one discovers true intentions when one discovers what the other person wants." I said with a smile and tried to keep calm and my breathing at a steady level.

Albedo sat down on my side of the couch and took a deep breath.

- Albedo: "So, aren't you going to ask what we are going to do in the experiment?" He said suddenly.

- Kaeya: "Ah, yes, the experiment. Tell me more about it."

- Albedo: "It's an experiment related to the human body and its limits. I need to do some tests with you and take note of the results of an adult man, that's why I chose you as a candidate."

He picked up the cup in front of him and took a sip. There was a brief silence afterwards.

- Albedo: "I've been working on this for about a week, and I only got data from one adult female thanks to Sucrose. I need you to collaborate with this project and promise that nothing that happens in the lab I'm taking you to will be in any circumstances known to the public. I still need more volunteering and I can't risk losing you as one".

Suddenly he got up and went to a chest of drawers in the living room and pulled out a bursting folder full of documents and loose-leaf paperwork. I assumed they were documents related to the experiment and things of his from the lab.

He took out an commistent sheet, put it on the table and took a pen with its ink from a nearby table.

- Albedo: "You just have to sign this, if you don't believe me, I can show you the sheet she signed." He said after leaving everything in my hands.

Now I was the one who had to think what to say or how to act in that situation. Everything could go either really good or really bad. I still had my suspicions about his experiment, but I did not hesitate to stand firm in that situation.

I took the sheet of paper and read each word in detail so that it would not seem too obvious that I was not nervous and was focused as in my work at the headquarters of the Knights when a subject becomes serious.

- Kaeya: "(So he was serious about the project... Isn't there anything to see if it's really true and he's not fooling me?)". I thought as I saw that it was likely that he was not lying. He just had to show proof that he did indeed get a volunteer.

- Kaeya: "Can I see what the woman who came signed? It's not that I don't trust you, in fact, I'll help you, but I need to see the other signature". I said suddenly as I looked up to see him from the couch.

Albedo suddenly opened his eyes a little. He didn't seem to expect me to ask for that much. He picked up the folder and opened it to pull out the document from the woman who helped him as a volunteer.

- Albedo: "Earlier you said I didn't trust you... Look at you now, asking for the papers to check if what I say is true or not. What a shame... Did you lose trust in me?"

Albedo shook his head from side to side with his eyes closed showing some disappointment.

- Kaeya: "Don't think like that. In fact, if I didn't trust you, do you think I would have agreed to this?" I said.

I looked at the person's name and his signature, and saw that it was Sucrose, he had lied to me and led me to believe it was someone else from Mondstadt, but I couldn't say anything, as it must have been Sucrose who had helped Albedo before someone else.

I looked at him again and saw him averting his gaze elsewhere and letting out a soft laugh so I wouldn't hear him. I rolled my eyes upward and went back to examining those documents.

A few seconds passed, and no matter how much I looked anywhere on those documents, nothing out of the ordinary was written, I had nothing that indicated anything suspicious about it. There was only one thing left for me to know if all this had more than one meaning, his words and nonverbal language.

I took a deep breath and picked up the pen, dipping it gently into the ink so I could sign.

I looked determined to know what he would want to do so much with these experiments that he needed help with and signed without hesitation.

Although it still seemed strange to me that encounter we had, it could be by mere coincidence or not. Due to the atmosphere around me I didn't feel entirely sure, but I would continue to investigate why and be attentive to everything.

- Kaeya: "There, here you go". I handed him the paper and he looked at it. A smile formed on his face and he looked at me.

- Albedo: "Thank you, Kaeya. I thought you wouldn't want to collaborate because of the subject matter of this". He took my hands and a warm smile appeared on his face.

- Kaeya: "It's nothing, you know you have me here for anything you need". I replied, returning the smile and releasing my hands from his.

Albedo picked up everything from the table and then we started to talk a little bit to keep us awake or at least, try not to fall asleep since it was late in the morning.
