Two days had passed and tara still saw no sign of the two again, until the job tara dreaded most rolled around, patrol, patrol was when four groups of two had been assigned to pair up by the patrol manager dewey riley who was married to gale weathers, what a surprise.

Tara took her horse out of the stables and walked it over to where the group was, involving dewey walking around handing out hunting rifles to everyone.

"Well look who decided to join us" dewey called out "here's your rifle kid, use it carefully"

"Dewey i know how to use a rifle"

"I'm just messing with you kid relax, i trust you" dewey turns around and then walks into the centre in front of the gate

"Alright listen up!"

"You all know your routes, mark your logbooks, clear any infected you see, and if you run into anything you can't handle...you come back."

"Got it?"

Everyone nodded got ready with their partners

"Dewey, who am i partnered with?"

"Oh right forgot to mention, you're with the new guy, came in two days ago, that asshole in the dark blue jacket"

"You partner me up with an asshole? Seriously why couldn't one of the guys do that" Tara whines

"Relax he's not necessarily an asshole, he's just sarcastic as fuck, i'm honestly surprised that vince hasn't busted his face in yet, dude wouldn't stop cracking jokes yesterday and vince looked like he was gonna kill him, luckily he didn't"

"Right."

"Alright" dewey pauses "get going."

Tara hops on her horse and goes over her route as the guy follows closely behind on his horse.

After they hop off their horses they walk into the empty houses to see if there's any spare parts to help at town.

Before tara even steps a foot through the door the first sound she hears is a growl, and then she feels a boney hand grip her ankle from underneath a crawl space.

Tara tries to grab her knife but before she can react the guy moves his boot down onto the infected's neck and fires a bullet through it's skull.

Tara pulls its limp dead hand off of her ankle and steps backwards breathing heavily.

Tara holds her hand over her heart as it beats rapidly and quicker than usual.

The guy steps back and slides his revolver back into his hoister.

"You should be more careful" he says

"Right, sorry, i only have this job once a week" she says

"Tell that to him" he ushers down at the lifeless corpse of the runner he killed, smirking and walking back over to his horse.

After they hop back onto their horses and continue onward they eventually arrive at the outpost where they check in and mention any problems they had or any infected they saw or killed.

After they arrive tara offers to check them both in and the guy goes to sit down on the couch centered at the other side of the room.

Afterwards tara wanders around the room and decides maybe she can find more out about him and then the girl.

"So, i never caught your name"

"Richie kirsch" he mutters whilst reading an american psycho book.
