Chapter 5

Jake sat and watched everything on the screen, he took screenshots of Alan and he saved the recording of the conversation he had. He couldn't believe how brazen Alan was being like it was a normal thing to be doing. Astrid and Richy left the shop shortly after Alan had gone. They kept their distance making sure Alan didn't see them as another team took over following Alan back to where he lived. Astrid and Richy made their way to the back of the flower shop where Jake was waiting in a van for them.

They dropped Richy back off at the junkyard and made their way back to the station, Astrid thanked Richy for all the help and arranged to meet up with him later that night. Once back at the station Jake and Astrid went over everything that they had. While they were going over the evidence Jake's phone started to ring.

Jake: Hi office Dunn what do you have for me?
Officer Dunn: we followed Alan back to where he's staying, he's been hiding out in the old abandoned dare house
Jake: That's excellent, do you have eyes on him?
Officer Dunn: Not at the moment he's inside the house everything is boarded
Jake: I expected as much, have you set up the surveillance cameras?
Officer Dunn: we have just finished everything is set up
Jake: thank you, you and officer cook can head back to the station now

Jake put the phone down and walked over to his laptop, he typed away and brought up several screens all pointing in and around the date house. Jake and Astrid sat watching for any movement and all was quiet then Alan came out of the house. He was carrying the flowers in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other.
They watched as he stood adjusting his tie and locked up the house putting a padlock and chain on the door.  They watched as he walked out of the camera's view with flowers and chocolates in his hands.

Astrid: What are we going to do now?
Jake: phone Cleo and warn her that Alan is on his way
Astrid: I'll phone her right away
Jake: tell her we will be with her and MC in 10 minutes

Astrid grabbed her phone from her desk and phoned Cleo.

Cleo: Hi Astrid, what up?
Astrid: Jake wanted me to warn you Alan is on his way to you
Cleo: thanks for the heads up the we are just about to get ready close for the day
Astrid: Jake said we will be with you and MC in 10 minutes

They said their goodbyes Jake and Astrid made their way to the coffee shop, they just got there in time to see Alan leave the flowers and chocolates outside the shop for Cleo to find. After leaving them he just walked away from the shop like what he was doing was totally normal. Jake and Astrid got out of the car and walked over to the shop. Jake picked up the flowers and chocolates Cleo saw them outside and went to let them both inside.

MC: Hey, Cleo told me what's happened, is he really coming here?
Jake: afraid so, but now we know who he is and where he's been living
Astrid: We will get him

They sat and waited for Alan to leave the gifts and then leave again, just like he always does. Alan had left them outside pinning a note to the outside shutter once they knew he had gone MC went to check outside and found the gifts and note.

MC picked up the gifts and took them inside. She put them on the table and Cleo read the note.

My dearest Cleo
How I miss you so much. I wish for the day we can be in each other's arms, I hope that one day you will come to love me just as much as I love you. Soon we will be in each others arms my love A.B

Cleo: He makes me feel sick!! Why does he keep doing this
MC: Jake and Astrid will get him right?
Jake: of course, I give you my word Alan will be brought down I do have to tell you Cleo we still need to gather some more evidence on him
Astrid: Jake's right, we need to do this so that when it goes to court the case will stand and he will be sent to prison
Cleo: whatever you need me to do I'll do it I just want this to be over
Astrid: don't worry Cleo you can count on us, Jake sorry do this but…
Jake: it's okay you go and meet up with Richy there isn't much else to do now, see you Monday morning
Astrid: bye guys

Jake helped the girls finish cleaning and went back to MCs apartment, Cleo was still staying over MC didn't mind one bit she loved having a roommate. The weekend was a lot of fun. Jake stayed over the weekend. They watched movies and played old retro games. Astrid had gotten closer to Richy over the weekend; they had spent the whole weekend together enjoying each other's company.

Monday morning soon arrived and it was back to work, the group had decided to pay the coffee shop another visit. They apologised for their behavior well all but one Jessy she still refused to acknowledge how well the shop was doing. She was still very bitter over the breakdown of her relationship with Richy. She's been trying her hardest to win him back but he's moved on now. 

Cleo and MC had been working on a new business adventure they wanted to try out home delivery. They wanted to test it out so over the next couple weeks they left some cards on the tables. They wanted to know if customers would be interested, the idea was getting a lot of positive feedback. So to test out the idea they hired Dan who practically begged them for the job.

MC: I swear you mess this up Dan and you won't see the day out
Dan: whoa!! Don't worry I won't let you down I promise
Cleo: okay, Dan here is the first couple of orders they are both in the same building so make sure to give the items to the right people
Dan: I've got this just you wait and see

Surprisingly Dan was doing a really good job. He promised he wouldn't let the girls down and he didn't. A part of him was more scared of MC than anything else. He could deal with rude customers but when MC is mad he runs  away very fast.
