Coffee shop romance

Chapter 11

Cleo's POV

I wake up to a sore head after drinking a couple bottles of wine, the events of what happened yesterday start flooding back to me. The way I reacted to all of this all MC and Jake have ever done is help me Astrid and Richy went out of their way to catch Alan in the act. I pull myself out of bed and go to make some coffee while the coffee is brewing. I go to take a shower feeling a lot more refreshed. I got to grab a coffee while taking my phone. I decided to send a text to MC. I wouldn't blame her if she doesn't forgive me.

Cleo: Hi MC, I am so sorry about yesterday I never meant to go off at you like that can we talk
MC: sure we can talk meet me at the coffee shop in an hour

Okay Cleo you got this you can do it all you have to do is explain what's been happening why did I have to fall for him, as much as I want to hate him I can't. I guess I should text Richy and Astrid. They have a right to know after all their help.

Cleo: Hi Richy, could you and Astrid meet me at the coffee shop in an hour?
Richy: Hi Cleo, yeah sure see you then

Putting my phone back down I try to calm myself, I can feel myself starting to panic after a few moments I manage to calm myself down and go and get ready.

When Cleo arrived at the shop MC and Jake had already arrived, they were sitting at one of the tables in the corner talking. Jake was holding MCs hand Cleo walked in and locked eyes with MC. Jake let go of MCs hand and walked over to where Cleo was standing.

Jake: it's okay Cleo come and sit down
Cleo: thanks Jake, Cleo walked over to where MC was sitting and sat down
Cleo: MC, I..I never meant for any of this to happen. I really didn't after everything you,Jake, Astrid and Richy have done for me I never meant to hurt you
MC: I don't understand why you didn't just tell me, I might of been mad but we could of sorted it out instead of it leading to this
Cleo: I really am sorry, your right I should of told you but I just needed to sort my head out after what he did I needed answers but the more I saw him the more i started to fall for him

MC got up from the table as Astrid and Richy walked it, MC went into the back and closed the door.

Richy: What's going on? Why did MC walk off?
Jake: you better sit down it's a long story

Richy and Astrid sat down while Cleo explained what had been happening. At first Astrid was angry but she could understand why Cleo never said anything.

Astrid: MCs not taken this well as she
Richy: Jake will she be okay? I mean I know it's a lot to take in
Jake: I really don't know at this point I think she just needs some time
Cleo: We open back up tomorrow what am I going to do

The back room door opened and MC walked. She was holding a clipboard she had drawn up a schedule MC put it on the table In front of Cleo to take a look.

Cleo: MC is this really necessary?
MC: for now it is yes
Cleo: okay, I guess I better get baking
Jake: MC wait, I know this as hit you harder than it at us but Cleo is really trying you can both work it out
MC: What do you want me to say? That I forgive her for everything and we can go back to the way we were
Jake: I get that I really do I know you won't fix things overnight but at least give it a shot
MC: fine! But I'm only doing this for you Jake
Jake: thank you MC

Jake kissed MC softly on the lips and gave her a hug, MC let go of Jake and walked over to Cleo. Cleo stood up not knowing what MC was going to do MC put her arms out and gave Cleo a hug. After MC let go she walked back over to Jake and took his hand and walked out of the shop. Cleo didn't really know what to do, she just stood there in shock. She never expected MC to give her a hug like that.

The next day the coffee shop had reopened and it was busier than ever, MC was out front serving customers and Cleo was out back making some more cakes. MC stayed out of Cleo's way for most of the day even though she had given Cleo a hug  she wasn't ready to forgive her yet.

MCs POV

I am still trying to get my head around what's been going on, am I a horrible person for not being understanding? Am I really that person that can't forgive her friend? I am trying so hard to forgive her. It's been a long day at work. Thankfully it's kept me busy. I haven't really spoken with Cleo today, I just couldn't face her.

Part of me does understand why she went to visit him, she needed answers and I completely get that I really do. Jake has been amazing ever since Cleo dropped her bombshell. Even Richy and Astrid have taken the news well. I didn't expect that with everything Astrid did.

The afternoon rush is now over. I decided to take my break, making a cup of coffee. I go over and sit next to the window. Looking out at the world going by everyone rushing to get to where they need to be before the rain sets in.

Will I ever be able to forgive Cleo? Am I really going to be that person, what does this mean for our friendship? What will become of the business? I don't want to lose either. I guess there is only one thing to do and that's sit down with Cleo and talk all this out properly like adults.

After the shop had shut for the day MC was busy cleaning up making sure the floor had been swept and the tables cleaned. MC saw Cleo come out from the kitchen. She could tell she wanted to say something but was scared to do so.

MC: I think we should talk
Cleo: I think so to

They both sat down. Either one didn't know how to start, MC took a deep breath and started to talk first.

MC: what you did it's really hurt me I thought we could tell each other everything
Cleo: I want you to know that I never wanted this to happen I never wanted to fall for him but I have
MC: I can get over you going to see him I completely get why, but falling in love with him it's really hard for me to get my head around
Cleo: He's really not a bad guy. I know what he did was wrong and he knows that he's gotten so much help.

They both continued to talk for a while Cleo agreed to give MC some time to get her head around. Cleo was understanding of MCs needs and didn't want to lose her as a friend.
