The uneven stoney path leading to the grim and gloomy building never had been so nerve wrecking as in that moment for the brown-haired man. The trees around it didn't help to brighten the situation, and yet only making it worse. Tall grasses covered most of the ground and the wind made it look more frightening than it should be.
He had passed this building countless times as his morning run routine. But never would he thought to enter it, moreover after sunset.
The cold breeze already started to make him shiver from standing there alone. His sweater and hoodie was warming him up, but the sweatpants wasn't doing anything helpful in this breezy weather.
He had thought that he would just take a short walk, after arguing with one of his best friends, just to calm his head.
But then his favorite hat had to blown away and it flew towards the abandoned building.
He took a step towards the clearly-not-maintained building and began searching for his dark-blue hat.
When he couldn't find it at the front of the building, he searched to the sides.
After sometime searching, he spotted his hat on the ground near a broken wall.
The building had a few holes on the walls. But this one was much larger.
Some thugs might be the one who broke it to enter, he thought.
As he walked to the ruined wall to pick up his hat, he heard faint noises from the inside of the dim-lighted building.
He stood there trying to make it up, but failed miserebly.
Curiosity made him took out his phone to light his way into the dim building.
Most of the roof was wrecked, and patches of weeds had made their way in. The flooring was destroyed, some were tiles and others were dirt. Cracks can be seen on some of the walls that were left behind. And the only door properly attached was the front door. There were some scattered glasses from the windows, and many piles of useless garbage and used ciggarates.
But the odd thing was the only noise he could hear was the unidentified noise from deep, inside of the building. Maybe from one of the rooms.
There wasn't any chirping of the crickets, nor the frogs croaking. Even the mosquitoes weren't buzzing around.
The moon light helps alittle to let him see some of the area that was too dark for his phone's light alone.
He continued his little adventure to discovering the source of the weird noises into one of the rooms. He stepped carefully and quitely, so the maker of the sound wouldn't be startled - If it was a person or some creature or object living around.
But the more he came near to the room with the source of the noise, the heavier the air became.
But he didn't back away. He had progressed this far so he wouldn't turn around. All of this was just to fill his curiosity.
His heart was beating faster and faster in every step he took. He begin sweating at the tense, eerie atmosphere. And the sound became clearer as he was a step away of the door frame.
The sound was familiar to him, but his mind couldn't process it quickly. Or maybe it did but he was just in denial.
His heart was screaming to tell him to turn around and pretend to not hear it. But curiosity still wins over him at the end.
He swallowed down a lump of saliva in his throat, before he took a peek inside.
Leaning his body a little, ignoring the heavy metalic smell comming from the room.
