Izuku followed Spider and Inkura to an area just outside of Inkopolis. During the trip, Inkura had given him a soda to drink. Izuku took it gratefully and drank it. His eyes went wide as a huge smile spread across his face. It was the tastiest soda he had ever tasted!
Spider chuckled at his face. "Be careful," he said. "Don't drink too much or you'll end up having to go to the bathroom a lot. Just like Inkura."
Inkura pouted. "Oh, come on," she said. "I don't use the bathroom THAT often!"
"Said the girl who used my ink canister because she had to ink so badly," said Spider. "That's what happens when you drink so much soda!"
Inkura pouted and blushed in embarrassment. "I said I was sorry for that," she said. "In my defense, there weren't any bathrooms available for me to use at all!"
Izuku smiled and patted her on the head. "Let's not talk about any more embarrassing stuff," he said. "Are we almost at your place?"
"Yup," said Spider. "Just around the corner."
Izuku smiled at the two squid-humans, and they continued to walk. Finally, after about five more minutes, they made it to a small house. Spider unlocked the door and they all went inside.
The inside was quite nice with a living room, a kitchen, and a second floor with a couple of bedrooms and a bathroom. Izuku went over to the couch and collapsed onto it.
"Oh, a couch has never felt so nice," he said.
Inkura gave him a look of concern. "Long day?" She asked.
"Yup," said Izuku.
Inkura smiled at him kindly before giving him a head pat. "Well, you can stay with us for as long as you need," she said. "Right, Spider?"
"Of course," said Spider. "If you're lucky, you can join us both in a few games of Turf War."
"Well, I've never played Turf War before," said Izuku. "But I'm a quick learner."
"Well, all right then," said Spider. "So, is there anything we can get for you while you rest?"
"Actually, I would like to learn about something," he said. "I'd like to learn about what happened to the human race. I... um... heard about humans before, but I don't know what happened to them."
"Oh, that makes sense," said Spider. "Hang on."
After a few minutes, Spider returned with a book titled The History of Humanity.
"Here you go," he said. "I hope this turns out to be helpful."
Izuku smiled. "Thank you, Spider," he said.
Just then, they heard the sound of slurping from the kitchen. Spider face-palmed. "Oh, come on," he cried before running to the kitchen. "Inkura, stop drinking the soda!"
"But it's so yummy," Inkura whined.
Izuku chuckled before opening the book. He turned to the table of contents and saw a chapter whose title made his heart break: The End of Humanity.
Shakily, he turned to the page and began to read: "It is believed that humanity came to an end thanks to a massive worldwide nuclear bombing set off by an unknown threat. According to many journals, a great hero named Deku defeated a great evil, but was horribly hurt from the battle. Many other heroes were injured. The heroes were taken to many labs with pods and injected with an unknown substance in an attempt to heal them. However, that's all the journals have said regarding humans. All we know is that ever since humanity's extinction over 12,000 years ago, we Inklings and Octolings have continued to live on."
