Voices. That was all he could hear as he slowly opened his eyes. His vision was blurry before it cleared up. He blinked a few times to make sure he could see clearly. Soon, he saw that he was in some kind of pod.
Huh? He thought. Where am I?
A loud HISS was heard as the pod slowly opened. He took a slow step out and tripped. He raised his hand up to rub his hair... only to feel something weird. It felt smooth and a little slimy. It didn't even feel like hair at all.
"What the...?" He muttered. "Where's my hair?"
He rubbed the sides of his head to where his ears were. His ears were there, but they felt different. Instead of the normal round shape that he knew ears were shaped as, they felt long and pointy.
"Have I... changed?" He whispered.
He shakily stood up and started to walk as best as he could manage. He saw other pods in the chamber he was in, but they were all rusty and empty. Soon, he came across a huge door and saw a hand scanner next to it.
Curiously, he placed his hand on the scanner. At first, nothing happened. But then, the scanner hummed to life! It glowed as his hand was scanned.
"Match confirmed," said a loud robotic voice. "Identity: Izuku Midoriya, aka Deku. Welcome back to the world of the living. You have been asleep in the revitalizing chamber for..." The voice was cut off by static before it was able to continue. "Body scanner activated."
A small camera-like object appeared in front of him. A beam of light appeared and slowly scanned him before shutting off and retracting.
"Condition: Healthy," said the voice. "Please proceed through the door before you. And be aware of the changes on your body. Water will hurt your new form, so be careful. Thank you for choosing our revitalizing chamber!"
The door slowly opened and a bright light filled the room. Izuku raised a hand to cover his eyes so that he wouldn't get blind due to the extreme brightness. But as he started to lower his hand, he noticed something strange: It appeared to be a bit thicker than he remembered.
"Smooth, slimy hair? Pointy ears? Thick hands and fingers?" He asked himself. "What have I turned into?"
He took a look at his new body and saw that his hero suit was still on. But it felt as if he had shrunk a bit. He looked back up at the open door and stepped through it. He saw a large pad and took a step on it.
As soon as he stood in the middle, the pad began to slowly rise up. After about three minutes, the pad stopped. He heard the sound of a large door opening up behind him.
He turned around and saw the opening door before approaching it. He then heard the strange voice one more time: "Thank you for staying with us. We hope you will adapt to your new form and stay safe. Good luck out there!"
At last, Izuku was outside. He could see some trees and a few animals here and there. It was quiet. Very quiet. He took a deep breath and began to walk.
After a while, he heard the sound of a stream flowing quietly. He followed the sound and found the stream. He approached it and looked down at it... only to gasp at his new look!
