Welcome to New York - Val

I've been stressed since I got on the plane. With having to date someone who doesn't like me...and the album...and the past. Being with Luke is like dragging around a teenage boy...except the words he says hurt. Why do they hurt?

Luke and I took the elevator up to the Penthouse. I entered to see the sun setting over the city in the window that spanned far enough for the eye to see. I looked out over my city.

"Whatcha thinkin about?" Luke asked as he stood next to me. I can't ignore him forever...I just have to get through this like I've gotten through everything else.

"I know you don't care...so just stop it with the questions please." I said as I walked into the only bedroom in the penthouse.

"Oh, there's the bitch!" Luke probably said that with a smile.

"I said please!" I yelled as he followed me into the room. I'm going to be walking this boy around the city like a dog. I stood over the bed and started opening my suitcase. I put my things in the bathroom and opened my clothes suitcases.

"Hey babe there's only one bed...how are we going to fix this situation?" Luke stumbled around the bed, his gray sweatpants and tight black shirt moving with him.

"I'll sleep on the couch." I offered because he'd probably make me anyway.

"You're kidding? We can share, it's a big bed." He said as he started unpacking his suitcase too.

"It's ok Luke...you're my guest...you should get the bed all to yourself." I said, trying to be nice.

"Stop it. I don't need special treatment from you, we both sleep here or we both sleep on that big couch out there." He said angrily as he threw his stuff into one of the drawers.

"Ok, sorry. There's a menu on the table outside, I'll go get it and we can pick out dinner." I offered as I walked out of the room. I saw the large kitchen and walked over to the dining room table and grabbed the menu. I looked over my city, I'm happy that even though things are constantly changing, the view stays the same. The most beautiful view, I missed my home.

"You take a long time to do a simple task." I heard a voice coming from behind me. I turned around to see Luke rocking back and forth on his heels.

"Sorry." I let out a small laugh. "You can splurge on whatever you want, I already put in my order." I reached my hand out to him to hand him the menu. I felt shivers up my spine as he stepped closer and closer.

"Thanks." He said as he took the menu and walked back into the bedroom.

We ate dinner separately but he finished his dinner first and finally came out of the bedroom. I sat at the dining room table with my headphones on, listening to the same tune I had been on the plane. I had made it a while ago but I hadn't placed lyrics with it yet.

"What are you listening to?" I heard a voice ask through the beat, I looked up to see, who else, Luke. The sun had gone down and the apartment was dimly lit, the only light was from a small lamp in the kitchen.

"Just a beat I'm working on. I'm just trying to think up lyrics." I responded as I looked back down at my notebook. "You've been to the city before, right?" I asked as Luke walked over to the large window.

"Yes...and no. The guys and I have come here to perform but we didn't get to see much of the city. So I guess you could say that this is my first time in New York." I got up and stood next to him by the window, looking across the city, my city.

"Welcome to New York." I said with a faint smile.

"Thanks, the lights are so bright. Is it always like this? It's so blinding." He said as I looked up at him. Our eyes met, the small oceans in his eyes glimmered.

"Yeah, the view has never changed, it's always bright." I said as I looked back at the view.

"I'm going to bed, night Parker." He said as he walked behind me to the bedroom.

"Goodnight Luke." I said as I watched him walk away. I slowly walked over to the table and grabbed my notebook and sat down at the piano.

I had been writing for hours now, it was around 1:00 when I had been interrupted.

"Valentine? Are you out here?" I turned my head to see Luke standing by the bedroom door rubbing his eyes.

"Yes." I responded. He walked over and sat next to me on the bench.

"What're you doing? You should go to bed." He said with a yawn.

"I'm almost done. I'm working on a song for my album. I just have to finish these lyrics." I said while rubbing my tired eyes.

"Are you always working like this? You should take a shower and come to bed, you can finish tomorrow." He said as he laid his head on the piano.

"I just finished though, so I'm coming to bed soon." I responded as he looked up at me.

"Can I see what you have?" He asked me in a deep voice. His hair was messy and he only had on underwear and a black shirt. His eyes were the deepest of blues and his lips were the prettiest of pinks. I could never fall in love with him.

"Yeah." I said as I moved my notebook towards him. He read off the lyrics.

It's a new soundtrack, I could dance to this beat

The lights are so bright but they never blind me

"Not bad. Do you have a name for it?" He asked as he read through the lyrics.

"Welcome to New York."
