Aonung's POV:

Neteyam had been asleep for two months now.

We figured out a while ago that the fish he caught was poisonous and was probably the reason he fell into a comitized state.

Everyone was beginning to doubt whether he was going to wake up or not.

It had been two months after all.

I felt a heavy pain in my heart everytime someone brought up Neteyams state.

About how he might not make it.

And I only hated hearing it because...

It might be true...

I was walking along the beach, my head empty.

So was my stomach. I hadn't eaten all day.

I slowly walked over to the Sully hut.

I was still staying with them to better take care of Neteyam.

My parents were fine with it and Neteyam's parents didn't mind either.

Once I entered, I saw Neytiri and Jake sitting in front of a small fire, cooking what seemed to be a type of soup.

I nodded at them, saying hello and slowly walking over to Neteyam.

He lied there, his head resting on a small sponge.

I had to admit, even on the verge of death, he still looked beautiful.

I admired him for a while before hearing Neytiri and Jake whispering.

They were on the other side of the hut, and it was really hard to hear, but I could still make out a few words.

"How long Jake?" Neytiri asked, looking down at the food

"Can't say. He's not getting worse." Jake replied, staring at his mate.

"But he isn't getting any better either" She hissed, a little louder but still in a whisper.

Jake looked in my direction and I snapped my head back down to Neteyam.

Jake slowly turned his head to face Neytiri again.

"He'll be fine. He's a strong kid" He said, caressing her shoulder.

Neytiri was now sniffing.

"But is he strong enough?" She asked, tears silently dripping down her cheek.

She was right. Neteyam was very weak.

I stood up, walking over to Neytiri.

"Um, Mrs Sully. Is dinner ready?" I asked, eyeing the food down.

She quickly wiped her tears away and picked up two bowls.

One was regular soup and the other was almost like water with thin pieces of meat.

"Uh-hmm..." She cleared her throat before speaking.

"One for you and the other for Neteyam" She said, he voice low and a small smile gracing her face.

"Oh, no. I'm fine, really!" I said, taking Neteyam's and forcing the other one back.

I had never accepted any of their food.

I felt like a burden in their home already.

Every night, I would feed Neteyam and silently creep out, quickly finding something to snack on and coming back to comfort him.

"No, I insist" Neytiri said, pushing the bowl up to me again.

"It's the least we can do as thanks for helping heal Neteyam" She said, tears slowly falling from her eyes again.

I hesitantly took the bowl and stared at her for a while.

I nodded, smiling at her.

"Thank you Mrs Sully. I am forever in your debt." I said, an uncontrollable smile marking my lips.

"Nonsense" She replied, looking back down to the food.

"Not once have you accepted our food. And it's Neytiri." She said, looking back up and smiling once again.

"Thank you Neytiri" I said, nodding again and slowly backing up to Neteyams sleeping body.

I sat down next to Neteyam, putting my bowl aside and bringing his close to his mouth.

I took out the small wooden spoon and began to mix the soup around.

I then adjusted him so that he was leaning against the huts walls.

The soup was still very hot, steam quickly rising, heating up my face.

I blew on if for a few seconds before dipping the spoon into the thin mixture.

I slowly lifted the spoon to Neteyam's lips.

His mouth was already opened, so all I had to do was pour the soup into his mouth.

Once the spoon was inside his mouth, I tiled it upwards and the mixture quickly ran into his mouth.

I repeated this for a few times until the soup was completely gone.

I settled the bowl next to me, picking Neteyam up and laying him back down again.

Once he was flat on the ground, I pulled a small woven blanket up to his neck, resting a hand on his head a silently watching him.

His breaths were steady and his body was warm.

After a while, I began to drink my soup, the hot mixture burning my tongue.

Once I finished, I put my empty bowl inside Neteyam's and layed down next to him.

It was an especially cold night tonight.

I wrapped my tail around his leg as usual and slowly began to drift off.

Everything was slowly getting darker as my mind shut down.
