Kim Taehyung.

Kim Taehyung was the CEO of a venture capitalist "Kim & Jeon Investment Firm", a private investment firm that provided capital to early-stage companies or new start-ups in exchange for an equity stake.

Those small companies/start-ups usually didn't have access to stock markets and didn't have enough cash flow to take on debts yet. Kim & Jeon Investment Firm would nurture those investee companies for about three to five years to establish themselves until they reached adequate growth and were credible enough. Only then, they would sell their ownership stake and exit the investee company by initiating a merger, acquisition, or Initial Public Offering (IPO). With that, they could reap big returns.

Kim Taehyung and his partner, Jeon Jungkook as the Head of Projects, were two filthy rich second-generation chaebols. They may have initially received an injection of capital from their respective fathers, but their firm had grown exponentially over the last few years because of their own hard work and sharp judgment in smartly picking the right niche to invest in and sharply analyzing potential companies.

So, as you could imagine, all about Kim Taehyung only screamed money and profit! And Seokjin had his own concern that this materialistic man would turn Magnolia to become one of his gold mines. A cold cash machine that was far-fetched from the original owner's--Mr. Kim ha-joon--intention and values.

.

Magnolia Boutique Hotel was built by Kim Ha-joon about 45 years ago in the city of Busan. This hotel was situated by the beach and was small at first. Kim Ha-joon befriended the local residents and as the hotel finished, he recruited many of them to work there.

The hotel was renovated several times and built bigger as the time went by. Magnolia grew together with its neighborhood and its local people. Giving lives and a source of income to many. For years, Mr. Kim ha-joon maintained that practice religiously. Mr. Kim's humility and generosity touched many people here. And Seokjin obediently continued that legacy and those values as Mr. Kim's health was declining, and then Jin stepped up as General Manager about three years ago.

Mr. Kim was brought to Seoul by his son, to be closer to his family. Until his dying day at 80-years-old.

Magnolia Hotel - President Suite, present time...

"So, Seokjin shi, could you tell me a brief information about Magnolia?" Kim Taehyung asked over their dinner that night. He then brushed his lips with his fingers.

He cut the medium-rare wagyu steak and savored the juicy meat elegantly. The man before him was so gorgeous, Taehyung couldn't help but to clench his jaw at the tempting sight.

Seokjin sipped his drink to clean his palate and explained some general information about Magnolia, how many rooms they had, its average annual revenue, about the staff, and the visions and values this hotel upheld.

Taehyung listened attentively. Kim Seokjin was not only easy on the eye, but also well-articulate and intelligent. Taehyung stared coldly and sharply at him. Seokjin was well aware of it and his body language showed that he was uncomfortable. He ended his explanation and focused his attention back on his plate. He didn't like to be intimidated! Especially not by this snob rich brat.

Taehyung let out a sharp breath of displeasure. If only Kim Seokjin was slightly dim-witted, less polite, less cooperative, less handsome, or had an ugly personality, it would be easier for Taehyung to crush him down from that high throne of his moral values! Stripped him off of his beloved grandfather's legacy, and threw him on the street himself.

Kim Taehyung didn't really like sharing things that should be his.

"I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions regarding the documents, Seokjin shi. I will station myself in your office starting tomorrow, so I can ask the questions directly to you."

The audacity of this grandeur grandson made Seokjin annoyed. He didn't even ask politely to station in the General Manager's office. He just made his way to invade Seokjin's privacy and work. "I'm sure you can ask me through text message or Google Meet, Mr. Kim, while you stay comfortably here in your suite." He tried to dodge.

"No! I like to see people's immediate responses and gestures when I ask. Those are more genuine. Body language always speaks more than spoken words." Taehyung had made up his mind.

Seokjin silently gritted his teeth.

Out of curiosity, Taehyung suddenly asked, "Did you expect Magnolia would be inherited by you, Seokjin shi?"

"What?? Of course not, Mr. Kim!" Seokjin was startled by the question. What kind of question was that? He was not Kim Ha-joon's family member and never expected to get anything from him. Kim Ha-joon had done more than enough for him, including paying for Seokjin's college tuition.

"If it is, what will you do?"

"I don't know, because I never thought of that possibility to begin with."

Taehyung stared at Seokjin.

That stare! Again. What's with those deep stares? Taehyung always stared at him with unreadable thoughts, like a month ago at Grandpa Kim's funeral. Seokjin read somewhere that this kind of deep stare only had two meanings, either Taehyung wanted to have sex mercilessly with him or to kill him. The first one sounded so highly unlikely! So it must be the second one after all.

Seokjin always sensed hatred in those deep stares. Kim Taehyung hated him for whatever reason. He could feel it since he first met Taehyung at the funeral.
