The ninja rushed back to cover, out of the open fire of the battle field. Panting, gasping for air, they took shelter behind a fallen tree. They needed to come up with a plan. This new enemy was far stronger than they had anticipated. Cole sat holding his arm, as a red crimson traced his Gi's sleeve. Lloyd tried his best to catch his breathe along with Jay. Kai sat beside Nya, keeping an eye out over his shoulder to keep their spot hidden from any further attacks. "Ok. What's the plan?" Kai asked, watching the field that laid behind the tree.
Nya watched over the battlefield still processing how powerful this foe was she was scared but couldn't let that show. "We have to be very smart about this since they can break our strongest barrier with ease, we have to get them separated and pick them off one by one." Nya whispered to Kai so their enemies wouldn't hear. Cole sat up, grasping his injured arm, "we've thrown everything we have at them! I don't know how much further we can go at this rate.." Lloyd had to agree with Cole. They were in no position to continue fighting at this rate.
"we need a new strategy. Clearly we can't do enough damage. This enemy is too smart for us. Every time we throw something at them, they throw it back 100 times stronger and faster.." Kai glanced at his fallen friends, a frown on his face. He knew that they had a slim chance at defeating this foe, but he wouldn't give up easily.
"Then that's just what we're going to do. We'll come up with a plan that they can't predict." The fire ninja blurted with confidence. Nya lifted her head to him, "Do you have any plan so far?" Her anxiety starting to get to her, thinking about how powerful this foe is and how the ninja are falling one by one around her.  The brunette looked to her sister. Kai had some sort of plan in his head, but it wasn't exactly clear as to what he was thinking. Zane stood up, protesting against Kai's thoughts. "Kai. I must detest. We cannot pull through with that idea!" Kai rose to counter Zane, "we don't have any other option, right now. You heard what sensei said. "a flame will fall before dusk, only to blaze a trail. He wasn't just throwing some twisted words at us. We can't just not take that into consideration!"
Lloyd also rose on Zane's side, disagreeing with Kai's suggestion.  "I don't care what my uncle said! I'm not letting you sacrifice yourself to this- this witch! Just to save Ninjago!? I can't let you do tha-" Kai cut off Lloyd, placing a hand on his shoulder. His eyes tense and rather serious. He'd made his mind up. "Lloyd. That's our job."
Nya looked up to Kai with a worried look on her face she didn't like this plan and she didn't want to lose her brother...
"Kai I can't let you sacrifice yourself for us!" Nya said with a worried look as she thought about the plan, she wanted him to come back from this she couldn't lose him. Not after all they'd been through.  "There has to be some way to beat this threat with no one having to sacrifice themselves for the battle!!" She cried out.
Kai turned to his distressed little sister. He didn't look troubled by his decision, like he'd come to peace with the idea of his own sacrifice. "Nya. We were chosen by sensei to protect Ninjago. That's our job-"
He turned to face his fallen friends, taking in the situation and how dire the consciousness would be to let the enemy prevail. "We were all chosen to protect Ninjago. It's our duty. And I don't know about you, but I'm willing to give my life for my friends. My family. My home."   Nya stared at her brother before nodding, agreeing to his decision. She hated her brothers decision but she knew it was the only hope they had. "Fine. It's your call.  But you better come back. I'm not going to allow you to throw everything in the drain, just to defeat some stupid enemy."
she gave him a, not so, convincing smile with an elbow to his rib cage.   "But Kai..." Lloyd spoke up, disturbed by this decision. Kai had always been seen as his older brother. He took Lloyd under his wing when no one else would, Lloyd couldn't bare the idea of loosing someone else in his life. Kai gave Lloyd a reassuring smile.    "It's what needs to be done."  Kai replied. "So it is decided.... Kai will make his way to the alter. When he reaches it, he'll disarm it and this whole affair will be done and over with." Nya said before she thought about Kai going alone to face the enemy, her eyes started to tear up at the thought of her brother getting hurt or worse...
"You better come back in one piece." Nya said with a small smile.
Cole stood to his feet, weakly. "so then, we need a plan so Kai can get to the beacon without getting caught. That's the only way this will work. So, what's the plan guys?" "Well we need to get Kai as close as possible to the beacon we can create a diversion and try to get him there as fast as possible" Lloyd suggested as he thought about how to create the diversion.   "I know! I could try to distract them enough so Kai can make it at least a little closer.... But what could the guys do?" Nya asked looking at the others to see if she would give them any more ideas of what they could to create a big enough diversion so Kai can make it there in time. Zane suggested tagging along with Kai and Nya, his ice element could be helpful with her water. Jay, Cole, and Lloyd all agreed to create a distraction, to keep the army off their back as Nya and Zane got Kai to the alter. The plan was set, now to set it in motion.
