It's been a week since Vinnie got shot and he still hasn't woken up "Nat it's been 3 days you need to eat something" Xena says coming into the room with a plate in her hand "I'm not hungry Xe" I tell her "Mario made your favorite" she says setting the plate down "you can just set it on the table" I tell her "I'm not leaving until you eat" she says "Xe I'm not hungry I'll eat later" I tell her.
"That's what you've been saying for the past 3 days just take a bite and I'll leave you alone" she says "fine if it'll get you to leave me alone faster" I tell her grabbing the plate and taking a couple of bites stopping mid-bite when the monitor starts beeping "what's going on?" Xena asks walking over to me I turn around to look at her "I-I don't know I think something might be wrong go get a doctor" I tell her she runs out of the room.
"Vinnie?" I ask not expecting a response I grab his hand in my now shakey one and wait for Xena to come back with a doctor "you better not die on me Hacker I swear to god" I say "I'm back with doctors!" Xena says running back into the room "what's going on?" one of the doctors asks sliding on some gloves "I'm not sure one of the monitors just started beeping" I tell him "okay can we have you guys step out of the room for a minute just so we can check him out please?" they ask "yes of course" Xena says reaching for my hand.
"Nat come on it's just for a minute we'll come back" she says I turn and grab her hand getting out of the chair and looking back one more time before walking out of the room. "Was it me did I do something?" I ask "what no Natasha you've been in there for over a week if you did something don't you think it would've happened by now?!" she asks "yea but what if my presence like killed him or something?" I ask "Natasha you sound stupid right now you haven't left Vinnie's side in over a week you didn't do anything to him okay now just take a deep breath okay breathe with me?" she says.
I nod my head and take a shakey deep breath "good feel better now?" she asks I nod my head still feeling anxious "good just keep breathing focus on your breathing, not your thoughts" she says I give her a smile "Ms.Russo?" one of the doctors come out of the room with a look on her face "w-what, what's wrong?" I ask her "he's awake ms and he's asking for you" she says "what?" I ask "he's awake ma'am" she says with a genuine smile I just stand there not sure if I'm hearing things.
"Nat did you hear her? he's awake and asking for you!" she says shaking me "that was real?" I ask "yes it was now go see him!" she laughs. Heart thumping out of my chest I walk into the room and see him laying there while doctors check him out and make sure he's okay and ask him questions. My heart literally stops when we make eye contact taking a shakey breath I walk over to him and sit down on his bed "hi" he says grabbing my hand with a smile "hi" I say back grabbing his hand "you're shaking" he says "yeah apparently its something I do" I laugh.
"Why are you so nervous?" he asks "because it's all my fault" I tell him "hey it is not your fault!" he says resting his hand on my cheek "yes it is I jinxed you" I tell him "you didn't jinx me" he says "when I said I hope you get shot I didn't actually mean it, you idiot" I tell him "you told me I needed to earn back your friendship and it seemed right in the moment" he says "there are literally a million other ways you could've earned my friendship back that don't involve getting shot!" I raise my voice.
