As She Sat [August Alsina]

Chp. 20

"Baaeeee! Your phone ringing!" Kia yelled.

"Who is it?" He darted back.

"I don't know. The number not saved." She walked into the bathroom holding his phone.

Chris grabbed and answered. "What's up?... This is he?... Say what?... Okay. We'll sort it out." He ended the call.

"What happened Bae? You look like you seen a ghost."

He didn't answer. He just strolled pass her and sat on the bed with his face in his hands. "Come here baby." He reach out for her.

Kia grabbed his hand and sat in his lap.

"I don't want you to be upset when I tell you this okay." Kia nodded with a puzzled expression. "I just got a call and there is a possibility that I MIGHT be the father of a little girl. Before your mind go there, no .. I did not cheat on you. She is 4 years old and her name is Majesty. I don't know for sure but I agreed to take a DNA test." He explained. Kia's body was frozen. "Baby say something."

"I'm not upset with you. Who's her mom? And why she wait so long to say something?"

"I was dating this women named Porchia some years ago and we broke up because she didn't want marriage. I asked her to marry me and she said no. She said she could text me the address of where to meet for the test." Chris caressed her arm.

Kia had so many questions and she knew he couldn't answer them. "I want to go with you."

Chris smiled at her. "Okay. I was gon offer anyways. I know how protective you are of me. I want you to know that I love you and I ain't know none about her. I swear. That's crazy to me."

Kia leaned in for a quick peak of his lips before pulling away. "I trust you and I know that you love me. I love you too." She cuddled in his arms and held back tears.

She did not want to let him know right then and there that the possibility of him fathering a child with someone else broke her heart. She needed more proof before anything else.

They pulled away just as a ping came to his phone letting him know I text came through. The location was at a clinic on the other side of town. The time was set for 12:30. If they wanted to make it in a timely manner then they needed to leave right then.

They both got dressed and headed to the clinic. During the drive, Chris noticed how worried Kia looked and gently caressed her hand. They arrived at the clinic at 12:17.

"Whatever happens, I love you so much okay." Chris assured. Kia gave a weak smile and exited the car.

The couple entered the building with their hands interlocked. Almost instantly, Chris locked eyes with Porchia and a small child. She stood up and Chris met her halfway in the waiting area.

"Hi." Porchia greeted.

"Sup. Porchia this is my fiancé Kia. Kia this is Porchia." He introduced.

"Hi." Kia lightly spoke.

"Oh. This is Majesty." She tugged the child's hand to get her attention.

Kia looked at her and couldn't help but notice the resemblance that she had to Chris.

The group sat down across from each other waiting for the doctor to call them back. Maybe 30-40 minutes passed by and they were finally headed to the back. Kia stayed in the waiting area to keep it from being crowded. Plus she didn't feel too much of a need to be back there. A short time passed and they returned to the front.

Kia instantly shot up out her chair making eye contact with Chris.

"We won't know for a few days. They said we'll get a email." He answer the question she was waiting to ask.

Porchia held on to the little girls hand and approached them. "I didn't mean to cause trouble truly but I just felt like she needed to know who her father is. She started to ask more and more where her daddy was. And Kia, I apologize if this is a lot on you."

Kia gave a small smile. What she really wanted to do was stomp that bitch in her neck. This couldn't have been the worst timing. They were planning a wedding and trying to plan out their future together. She really didn't want to hear her excuses as to why she kept that child away from her father all this time.

"I'll talk to you in a few days." Porchia directed her attention to Chris then proceeded to leave.

Chris and Kia headed back home. It was a long silence ride.

Once the two made it back home, they were greeted by Yasmin and the kids. "Hey y'all."

"Hey. We'll be right back." Kia said.

"Don't be doing anything!" Yas yelled out.

As soon as they made it to the room, they closed the door. Chris spoke up first, "I know you aren't comfortable foreal. We've been together so long and I know that you not happy about this. I think we should just keep this between us until we know for sure, agree?"

Kia sighed. "Agreed... Confession?" She played her words in her head before speaking. "I don't want to start not communicating so yeah. I ain't too happy about this but I don't fault you. I blame everything a 100% on her. And another thing is I'm upset that she possibly had your first child. I know it's a little hypocritical to say cause I've been pregnant before but I don't know... I just wanted our child to our first." She confessed.

He embraced her. "Aww baby. I know. I know... wait!" He pulled away. "You decide you want to have kids together."

She laughed. "Yes. I thought about it and I thought about how good you are with JuneBug and Davinity. I love the way you love and care for them. I just started to picture you like that with our child. I'm willing to try with you." She smiled. "I don't know maybe if Porchia would have called months ago. I might have been a little happier that she told you because I knew you were really wanting to be a daddy. But I was scared to give you one and now things have changed."

"I'm happy you told me. I want a baby with you. You are my future wife and I know this is forever. If Majesty is mine, then we will have to deal with it but promise that we won't lose us."

"I promise. I love you Chris." He pulled her into a deep kiss and cupped a handful of her ass. "Stop. Yas and the kids in the kitchen." She pecked him one last time and left the room.
