4 Months Later: July

"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday baby Jameson. Happy Birthday to you!" Everyone sung in unison. Yasmin took the time to blow out his #2 candle while everyone cheered.

Jameson was finally turning two and Yasmin could not believe it. She has been watching him grow up so fast. From not being about to say certain words to saying them a little clearer. It brought a wave of emotion over her to know he wouldn't be this size forever.

A human figure stepped to her side and grabbed her waist to embrace her. "Don't cry. You suppose to be enjoying today."

Yasmin looked up and smiled. "I know baby. I'll be back. I'm going to go clean myself up." She slipped away to the bathroom and fixed her makeup. Before heading back out after she took a few deep breathes.

"Thank you everyone for coming to celebrate the birthday boy. Kids feel free to take the goody bags home." She spoke loudly so that everyone could hear her.

"You better now?"

"Yes Zach. I'm fine now. I just needed a minute." She gave a reassuring smile at him.

Yasmin and Zachary met over a month ago on the dating profile that she was positive she deleted so long ago. It's been great between the two. He absolutely adored Jameson so that was the biggest plus for Yas. Everything was happening so quickly for her but in this instance she really did not mind it. Zach cared for her with such ease and care.

He placed a quick kiss on her lips. Yasmin just blushed and looked away. "Come on. They waiting for us outside." He took her hand and guided her to the backyard.

"Finally, I thought y'all asses dipped off and started fu-" Chris never finish his sentence before Kia popped him in his mouth.

"Mind your business. They grown." Kia turned towards and Yasmin and smiled. "I'm so happy for you girl. You just glowing and I love that for you."

Suddenly Yas phone rung and it was her aunt. She rolled her eyes and said, "I will be right back." She quickly walked in the house, "Hello."

Yasmin paced the kitchen before walking to her bedroom.

"Why the hell are you just now calling me then?" Yasmin questioned with anger. "Don't fucking worry about it. I will be there tomorrow." She hung up.

Yasmin just got a call that her grandma on her daddy side passed away two days ago. TWO DAYS AGO! She was beyond pissed because how you not call your niece to tell her that her own grandmother passed away. Her daddy had not called and said anything to her. Granted they weren't on speaking terms anymore but who the hell don't call their child about that. Yasmin always knew that side of the family was on some crack or something because their logic is just so fucking dumb.

"What happened? Are you okay?" Zach walked into her bedroom. "I heard her screaming from the kitchen."

Yasmin throw her phone on the bed and start packing a suitcase. "My granny passed away a couple days ago and they just now calling me to tell me. So first thing tomorrow morning, I am going to drive down there. They know they just piss me off with the stupid shit they do. I swear."

"I'm sorry to hear that. If you need anything let me know. Whatever it is.. distance, affection, my presence, or whatever." He caressed her back. "Look at me." He softly demanded. "Baby, I got you. Okay?"

She nodded and continued to pack her things. She wanted to badly to not be related to that side of the family at all. All that family did was cause her and her mom to suffer.

Zachary walked out the room to return to the party. Yasmin plopped on the bed and cried all the tears she had been holding in.

She thought about how the last few months have been going so good. She was happier, had been saving more, and finally found someone worth having. Although, she still living with her cousin, it was not that big of an issue she thought it would be because Chris house was very large so it allowed them to have good distance apart.

The tone signaling a text sounded from her phone causing her to reach for it. "Hey luv. Tell my lil dude Happy Birthday. I wish I coulda came but business had to be handled. Thanks for inviting the girls too." Yasmin replied with a simple, "Thank you. No problem."

- Next Day -

Yas had finally made it back to her hometown. She drove a little slower as passed areas that no longer housed certain businesses. It had been years since she left and it looked almost foreign to her.

About 10 minutes later, she arrived at her late grandmother house. There were 3 cars outside and she knew exactly who they belonged too. She parked on the curb and turned the car off. She instinctively wanted to just drive away but she knew she had to be there. Before getting out she gave herself a pep talk to remain claim and just be there for support of those who she actually cared for. Her granny and her relationship was one of the best she had on this side of the family. So of course, she could not leave without a proper goodbye.

After a few minutes passed by, she exited her car and opened the door to get Jameson out his car seat. She held his hand tightly and walked up to the front door. "Mommy." He called out and raised his hands to get picked up. Yas placed him on her hip and knocked on the door three times.

She seen someone peak out the front window blinds before opening the door. "Hey. May I help?" A woman asked Yasmin.

"I'm Yasmin. Mary's granddaughter."

"Ohhhh. They told me you were coming. Come on in. I'm Alice." She pulled Yasmin into a random hug. "We have never met but I am married to your Uncle Greg. We've been married going on 2 years in October."

"Okay nice to meet you. This is Jameson." Jameson shyly waved and then dove his head into the crook of Yasmin's neck.

"Aww. So handsome." Alice smiled. "Everyone is in the kitchen going over funeral plans."

Alice lead her to the kitchen even though she already knew where it was. Yasmin was not ready for the fake conversations but she knew they were coming anyways.

"Yasmin is here." She announced just as Yasmin step from behind her and into the kitchen.

Everyone stopped talking and snapped there heads up at Yasmin. "Hey everyone." Yasmin waved reluctantly.

The aunt that called her rose from her seat and proceed to try to hug her. Yasmin politely stepped back and said Jameson was sleep. He wasn't fully sleep but still not up and alert. Her aunt just step back. "Oh okay. All is well then. About the funeral plans. She did not want to be buried. She wanted to be cremated so we are going to respect her wishes. But she did leave something for you." She walked over to the old china cabinet and opened the top draw. "We found it today after going through her stuff."

It was a letter. Yasmin decided not to open it in front over one but privately later. "Are we having a repast or anything in her honor? When will she be cremated?"

"We scheduled it for tomorrow." Her uncle replied with sadness.

"Does my daddy know? He didn't even call to tell me she passed." Yasmin said while adjusting JuneBug on her hip.

"Yes. He is already down here. Your Uncle Mike went to get him yesterday. He didn't want to be the one who called you."

Yasmin nodded and mentally rolled her eyes at them. "Alice, take my number and text me the details of everything. I've been driving all day so I am ready to go check into my hotel." After her and Alice exchanged numbers, she directed her attention back to everyone else. "I'll see y'all tomorrow."
