A/N: Just as a side note, there's certain aspects of canon that's followed, but for the most part, it can kinda be disregarded.

Fun fact: I was listening to Summer Nights from the Grease soundtrack. And for some reason, I started thinking about Summer Love by One Direction and thought, what about writing something based on that song but make it Kurtbastian. And here we are.

For context, Kurt went to France for the summer before sophomore year, where he stayed with his maternal grandparents. A few days into his trip, he met Sebastian—a cute French boy, originally from the states. They hit it off immediately and started seeing each other nearly everyday, both knowing their time was limited.

"I can't believe you're packing." Sebastian commented, simply watching Kurt from his seat on Kurt's bed.

"Well, that's typically what people do before leaving," Kurt sassed. He felt himself tearing up and tried to cover his sadness with snark.

"I know," he replied calmly and sighed, aware that Kurt was trying to hold himself together just as Sebastian was. "I just can't believe time is up. It went by so quickly."

"Yeah, this was the best summer I've had in a long time."

"And now's the worst part." Sebastian pouted. "I knew we'd have to say goodbye eventually. But that didn't mean I would ever actually be ready to."

"Me neither." Kurt sat next to Sebastian on the bed, thighs pressed together. Kurt cupped Sebastian's jaw and kissed him softly and slowly, never wanting it to end. Staying close and still sharing the same air, Kurt spoke delicately, "I know how staying in touch tends to go so just promise you won't forget me."

"I promise," Sebastian whispered. He sealed it with a kiss. "That means you can't forget me either."

"I could never. I'm yours."

"And I'm yours...I was yours," Sebastian's voice cracked a little bit.

"Yeah..." Kurt looked away briefly. "I'll always remember you, Bastian."

"I could always hide you away at my house. No one would have to know," Sebastian joked. Both he and Kurt tended to cover up their negative feelings with humor.

Kurt flashed a small smile. "I think my dad would definitely know if I didn't show up at the airport for him to take me home."

Sebastian shook his head, smiling sadly. "Always the pessimist, babe."

"That's rich coming from you."

"Did you finish packing, honey?" Kurt's grandmother entered the room gingerly.

"Just have to put my essentials in my carry-on." He stood up to do so.

"Don't take too long. We need to get going soon, so you're not late."

"I'll be down in a few minutes."

"Do you really have to go?"

Kurt laughed humorlessly. "We both know the answer to that."

"I don't like the answer."

"Me neither. Come on." Kurt picked up his messenger bag. "We need to get going."

Sebastian grabbed one of Kurt's bags. He went out into the hallway while Kurt looked around his temporary bedroom one more time. He wanted to make sure he didn't forget anything, and for just a moment, he gave in to thinking about some memories that took place there. Feeling a tear slip, he hastily wiped it away and left. He and Sebastian went downstairs with all of Kurt's belongings.

"Ready, kiddo?" His grandfather asked.

"Yeah. Hopefully, I didn't forget anything."

"Let's get going then."

Kurt, his grandparents, and Sebastian left the house and piled into his grandfather's car after filling the trunk with his baggage.

His grandmother sat in the front passenger's seat while her husband drove, leaving Kurt to sit in the back with Sebastian.

Kurt's grandparents grew fond of the boy after he spent most of his summer around them since he was constantly with Kurt. They knew saying goodbye would be hard for the boys and invited Sebastian to take a ride to the airport with them, which he gladly accepted. It would give him a little bit more time with Kurt.

All too soon, they arrived at the airport. All four of them stood in the check-in line together. Once the airline had possession of Kurt's luggage, they walked toward security, knowing they'd have to say their farewells before Kurt went through TSA.

Kurt hugged his grandfather for a few seconds before embracing his grandmother. That hug lasted longer, as his grandmother was more affectionate. Kurt had started crying silent tears. When they let go of each other, his grandmother mumbled, "Oh, honey," and wiped his tears.

His grandparents stepped aside, letting Kurt and Sebastian have their moment to themselves.

"I guess, this is it," Sebastian uttered. Kurt nodded solemnly, not trusting his voice. Sebastian moved closer to hug Kurt securely around his waist. "I'm going to miss you so much."

Kurt wrapped his arms tightly around his neck. That was when Sebastian's tears started to fall. "I'll miss you, too. I love you, Bastian."

The boy mentioned let out a small gasp. He loosened his grip to look at Kurt. "I love you, too, Kurt."

Kurt brought them closer together once more to kiss Sebastian one last time. It was a bit sloppy, and they could feel each other's tears. But it was still perfect to them.

With one final hug, they parted and said their goodbyes. Sebastian stepped back to join Kurt's grandparents. Kurt looked at the three of them for the last time and waved before turning around to get in line.

The three of them waved back and watched Kurt get farther away until they could no longer see him.

Kurt numbly went through security, found his gate, and boarded the plane. Before takeoff, he took his earphones out of his bag and plugged them into his phone. He shuffled a playlist he and Sebastian had created during their time together.

The first song blasted in his ears:

Can't believe you're packing your bags
Trying so hard not to cry...
