As soon as Kurt got home, he called out for his dad.

"I think he's still at work," Sam told him when Kurt entered the living room.

"Oh, right. I wasn't paying attention to the time."

He joined Sam and Finn on the couch and watched the video game they were playing.

"Something you need to talk about?" Sam asked as he won the round.

"No, I'll just wait for dad to get home." He wanted to talk about his encounter with Sebastian. Sam and Finn—and none of the other New Directions' members for that matter—knew about the short-term relationship he was in when he went to France. And he didn't need them finding out now. Of course, he had told his dad all about it. Well, there were certain details he purposely left out. But he talked a lot about the boy when he got home. And now, he wanted his dad's advice. Should he try to stick it out with Blaine? Or should he pursue Sebastian?

He continued to dwell on the subject while absentmindedly watching what happened on the TV screen.

Sometime later, Kurt heard someone at the front door. He assumed it was his dad, but he would wait for him to settle in before ambushing him with his dilemma.

"Hey, guys," Burt greeted his three sons—one biological son, a step-son, and a semi-adopted son.

"Hey, Burt," Finn and Sam said in tandem, still distracted by their intense game.

"Hi, dad," Kurt greeted, getting off the couch to join him in the kitchen.

"What's up, kiddo?"

"I need your advice," he started before explaining what had happened at the Lima Bean. He spoke in a low voice, so the boys in the other room wouldn't hear. But they were too busy paying attention to their game anyway.

"Well, it sounds like you know what you want to do."

"But is that what I should do?"

"I won't tell you what to do, but you never talk about Blaine the way you talked about Sebastian. Keep that in mind. And you can't center your decisions around other people. You have to consider yourself, Kurt, and what you want."

"I knew you'd say that," he grumbled.

"Look, I know you don't want to hurt Blaine. But if your heart isn't in it, then you're leading him on. And that will wind up hurting him."

Kurt sighed. "It's just, Blaine is really nice..."

"And you find that boring." Burt chuckled. "You told me all the things you liked about Sebastian. And from your descriptions, I can tell you that Blaine is nothing like that. And I think you knew that going into the relationship."

"You know me too well sometimes. It's like you're in my head."

"It's my job as your father to understand you. Did anything I said help?"

"It kind of sounded like what I was already thinking. So maybe I just wanted confirmation that it was a good idea. I just need to figure out when and how to execute it."

"I'm leaving that to you to figure out."

"Gee, thanks."

"You'll be fine, Kurt." He gave him a squeeze on his shoulder as he continued preparing dinner. "You're smart. You'll come up with something."

"Thanks, dad," he said genuinely this time.

"Anytime, kiddo."
