I didn't start out to end this way
So in love that I can't see straight
Now how can life be anything but this?
Encountering you was always my fate

"I don't know what to say." He said, looking at the young man in front of him in admiration. "It's amazing the amount of information you were able to uncover given the short time you had. Well done Lucas." Elton chimed.

It had only been twelve hours since he gave Lucas the job to find out anything he could about Dillan Garwood, and apparently, the bastard was the reason why the Garton's sales had dropped to almost nothing. Lucas had uncovered files which showed that Dillan had paid off or blackmailed certain major buyers, either way manipulating them to turn away from the Gartons.

Mr. McCay was right. It was a conspiracy.

"Thank you so much sir. I'll dig deeper. Mr. Garwood's apparently not big on security measures." He said "Well, either that or he doesn't expect anyone would have the balls to try and infiltrate his company's information system" he clarified.

Elton quirked his brow quizzically.

"You'd be surprised what amount of information one can get with just one call to his secretary. Or simply hacking into their server"

"This is really incredible, but don't go slack on me now. Be mindful of the actions you take. No breadcrumbs.
One little slack, one stupid move, and we'll go down in flames."

"I understand sir" he nodded

"Now, about his household, what were you able to find?"

"I was able to get a list of most of the staff members of the late Lord Garwood. If we get to speak to them, perhaps it'll throw more light on why Dillan does what he does or aid us in finding where he hides the skeletons"

"Fine. Keep me posted. For now, you focus on the company, I'll take the house hold."

"That's fine with me." Lucas told him.

But before they could say anything else, the sound of footsteps coming into the drawing room drew their attention.

Emily came in mumbling something about bad weather and an imminent storm brewing above, then came to an abrupt stop when she realized she had company.

Good company.

Suddenly shy and a little skittish, she managed a small good morning. Her voice was so low, the sound could be carried by the wind, but Lucas heard it loud and clear. The effect of the sound did unimaginable things to him.

"Good morning, Lady Garton" he stood, bending over in a chaste bow.
Emily found his actions a little old fashioned but sweet nonetheless.

Enjoying herself more than she should, she extended her hand for a kiss, which he gave with unbridled aplomb.

"Hello Lucas" she said in a friendly manner, breaking any formal barriers he'd tried to create.

"You know who I am?" His eyes widened in surprise.

She giggled. "I see you walking in the fields oftentimes."

"I'm flattered that you find me intriguing to watch." He murmured, his fingers caressing her palms, as his words did her heart.

Oh dear. She shivered and he smirked, affirming his awareness of what his little gallantry was doing to her.

Blushing from head to toe, she rambled. "It's not like I watch you or anything. I just watch the field and the workers and you happen to always be in the field."
