Compared to the Hades cabin, her new room was different. Her current room had walls painted in a light shade between white and grey, the curtains over the wide window that let sun in was blue, as was the sheets on her bed.
Very different from the solid obsidian walls of the Hades Cabin, from the windowless-cabin, from the skull over the door, from the torches that that burned green greek fire twenty-four hours a day.
She wasn't sure how she felt. She felt like she was emotionally detached but at the same time so filled with different sensations that she wanted to stop feeling. It was strange to feeling nothing and everything all at once. Elisa chalked it up to the new living situation, eager to leave the topic behind.
She hadn't spent more time with the other residents after that night a week ago. She had chosen to self-isolate, to eat quietly, humming along as she was asked questions but never answering. Her eyes never strayed from her plate or her hands.
It was best not to get attached. She knew where that got her.
Elisa remained oblivious in her room but really she should have known that Khael would not simply let it go. She should have known that he would not be content to simply be away from him, that he wouldn't worry for her.
It takes two days before Khael shows up at the Wayne Manor, completely disregarding all security measures and even the people living there. Khael was not only Elisa's boyfriend but also her best friend (no matter how much Leo fought that it was his title) and the very determined son of Nyx.
Elisa feels it before she actually hears the commotion, she feels the comforting darkness and then she hears shouting.
Elisa all but jolts from the bed as she rushes downstairs to see Khael holding a dagger to Dick and something jumps in her. She'd never seen him so utterly pissed off. Sure, she'd seen him mad when she'd been so exhausted that she was fading away slowly.
'Everyone calls you a monster. Evil reincarnated.' Darkened eyes stared down with an almost musing look in them. 'I expected you to have a tail at least. You don't look like a monster to me, just another demigod.'
Elisa was so used to the Khael who was always on her team in capture the flag, the Khael that fought against both her father and his mother just to be with her, the Khael who laughed at her muttered comments.
"Khael!" Elisa stand at the top of the stairs, unmoving as she stares at Khael with a strange feeling in her chest. What had gotten into him?
It was like a switch was flipped. The boy that had took all of them by surprise with his distrust and near murderous intent immediately stepped towards Elisa, his attitude changing completely.
Jason was quick to stop him only for Khael to hiss under his breath as he glared. "If you really think you'll stop me from getting to her, you're dead wrong."
Jason was about to retort before Elisa stepped around him to stop Khael and pull him away. "Stop it!" Elisa hissed, avoiding looking at Bruce as she pulled Khael further away. "I told you not to come."
"But I missed you." Khael seemed to almost deflate, different to his murderous intent from seconds ago. "I don't trust them with you." he spoke in perfect greek and Elisa pursed her lips, she knew Khael was impulsive, she knew that his fatal flaw was his craving to protect that which he considered his.
Elisa could feel the stairs on her back and resorted to avoiding their gazes as she curled in on herself. "You don't have to." She replied, resorting to speaking normally, "But it does not mean you can just barge in where you wish. You know things don't work like that, Tesoro."
'Tesoro?' Dick mouthed to Bruce who was only restraining himself from interrogating both of the teenagers in front of him.
"Not even death itself could stop me from finding you." Khael spoke in return, not showing any remorse for barging into a house he did not own and basically threatening all of the inhabitants.
Yeah, they all hated him in return.
Elisa took her first nervous glance at Bruce to see him looking at her boyfriend with barely restrained anger and felt like she wanted to run and hide. She hated this feeling.
Khael turned around, looking at the man closest to him with an unimpressed gaze and promptly turned back around. "Let's go to your... temporary place of stay."
That was it for Cass, she could not stand anymore confusion even if just one look told her this boy was hostile towards them and their dear sister was bordering between caution and fear.
"Absolutely not." Her voice that had previously been quiet seeing as she was more used to signing to one of her brother and letting them translate to Elisa, rose in almost irritation. "No private room time."
The reprimand had reminded her of Percy, when he had scolded her for locking herself in her cabin with Khael, despite the fact that it only made her irritated. "I-IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!" Her cheeks burned bright red as she frantically muttered in italian, her brain frying from the implication.
Bruce knew things didn't make sense, not with the existing documents for her. Not with the mysterious manner of her mother's death, not with the fact that her missing persons record had never been dealt with or even that her older sister was dead but how? why? what was so dangerous that she had to be in a junkyard when she was supposedly missing.
None of it made sense and it made him want to declare that he'd take care of all of it, if only she gave him the whole truth but seeing the boy in front of him, so murderous to other, a danger, and yet so utterly soft to Elisa, still a danger, put him on edge.
"I do not like him, Father!" Damian declared as Khael pulled Elisa up the stares, turning back to glare at them with darkened eyes.
It was apparent to him that Dick, Jason, Tim and even Cass shared his sentiment, all wary and cautious of this new boy. This new danger to Elisa but he'd get to bottom of this. He'd allow this to be a place where the Elisa who curled in on herself could come to life.
