35 ~ Dark Crystals

Despite Law's warning, Nova headed toward Kaidos palace. 

While the rest of them fought for Wano, Nova fought for Asterope. For vengeance.

Her uncle was kindly waiting. 

She would have launched herself at him had it not been for Umbras supportive tail around her bicep. It was an action that shocked her, reminding her of Ballu. Like magic, it calmed her down instantly.

"You're a fool." He leaned against a wall, arms crossed. "Do you truly think you could defeat me alone?"

"I would be a fool if I didn't." She replied back cooly. "I am the ruler of Aster Bark. What kind of ruler would I be if I couldn't eradicate filth?"

His smirk fell instantly, replaced by rage. He barred his teeth at her and she noticed some purple liquid in his mouth. At all costs, she needs to avoid his mouth. Dragons poison has no cure and immobilizes within seconds, killing shortly after.

"If your father couldn't kill me, do you really think you could?"

The rage in her core increased and Umbra noticed a couple scales forming around Novas arm.

 "Enough talking. Fight me, already. We'll decide who's in the wrong for fighting alone after we receive the result."

He turned his back to her and walked into a portal that had opened a couple of moments ago. "Fine then. If you so wish to die an early death, then enter this separate world. A world where we will not be interrupted."

She stalked forwards but was stopped by a voice behind her.

"Nova!"

All tension from her muscles left once she spotted the pink haired boy. He collided into her, arms wrapping around her waist with great strength. She wrapped back just as strongly, having missed the boy for far too many months.

"Don't do it! Don't go! You don't understand what's in that world. T-the crystals! They bring-"

"Quiet!" Agyenim cursed. "Her choice will remain the same, but if she chooses to have you accompany her then so be it."

Nova pulled back and held the boys shoulders, whispering.

"I know."

Koby!s eyes widened. "Y-you what?"

"I know what the crystals are and do. I know, because I am made of them."

The pink haired boy stuttered uncontrollably. "How?"

She looked back at Agyenim, checking if he was really waiting patiently and to her surprise, he was. Then, she turned back to Koby and grabbed his jaw gently with her hand. Her eyes narrowed slightly with love, and Umbra looked down out of respect for the two.

"Yesterday, I spoke to Pop's. My mother, in order for her pregnancy to succeed, ingested several of the crystals. Instead of creating a hybrid child like she feared, it created me. A normal child. The merge-merge fruit was created in that world, and in order to consume it and harness it's abilities, you must contain some sort of Dark crystal matter within you. So, technically, I... am the only being in this world able to harness the abilities of that fruit."

She smiled at him, leaned forwards on her toes and kissed his cheek. "So don't worry. I am the dark matter."

She turned to look at her uncle, hand travelling slowly from Kobys face down to his hand befor she finally released it and walked towards the portal. Her uncle disappeared out of sight.
