Monty looked down at his phone and saw that Taniyah was calling.
“Hello?” he answered, not wanting to be bothered with the woman he’d met a little over two years ago.
“Hey, boo,” Taniyah responded happily, thinking she really had a chance of being someone special in Monty’s life.
“What do you need?”
“Damn, it’s like that? After all you’ve asked me to do for you, you acting real unappreciative right now,” she said with annoyance in her voice.
“Look, you know I’m busy, and I told you I would let you know when I’d be ready to meet.”
“Yeah, you did, but damn, a text or something ain’t too much to ask for, is it? Or do you have a new flavor of the month to occupy your time?” she asked with sarcasm dripping from her voice like melting ice cream on a hot day.
“Listen, you’ve served your purpose for now, but don’t act like you haven’t been given everything you’ve asked for in return. You and your son’s life have been completely upgraded because of me. It would be a shame to lose it all because you don’t know how to stay in line,” Monty said with a matter of fact attitude, utterly unfazed at her concerns about another woman being in the picture. There was always going to be another woman no matter who he was with, and he had the money to afford it.

"Oh, okay, so that’s how we’re moving now? Bet,” she said in a tone he’d never heard before but didn’t concern himself with.

“Well, since you’re too busy to give me some personal attention, I’ll just keep this all business. Zaiere has received his child support papers. The altered letter from the state was dropped off at his office today. I’ll be sure to make contact with him within the next week or so and start the process of making alternate arrangements that don’t include the state.

Hopefully, he’ll have a weak enough spot for the child not to want the courts involved. That’ll make it easier to keep this up without having to have another DNA test tampered with,” she stated coolly.

“That’s good to hear. Be careful. From what I’ve gathered, he’s currently involved with someone, but I don’t know who. See what you can do to find out more details on his personal life.” Monty replied unbothered.

“That’s fine. I’ll be in touch in about a week or so after you leave a deposit for me,” Taniyah stated.

“Will do.”

The conversation ended, and Monty shook his head at the audacity of Taniyah’s brashness. At least she took the hint without much argument. Monty always felt that women weren’t capable of controlling their emotions efficiently to really handle dirty business. If the common goal was money, business always came before pleasure, and it was time that Taniyah learned to stop mixing the two.

When Monty first met her, the interest was mutual. After a few months of fucking around, he’d learned that she could be an essential asset to getting Zaiere Thornton on his team. Of course, he didn’t tell her everything. That would be dumb on his part, but he was smart enough to know that money talks, especially with women. Being wined and dined on the regular made Taniyah think she was special when in reality, she was just another token on his belt of beautiful black women that he wanted to fuck. He knew all of her dirty little secrets as well, so he doubted that she’d do anything too crazy. On the outside looking in, it appeared as though she’d been on the straight and narrow after getting clean and having her son, but in reality, she was still doing dirt too, just in another way.

Taniyah was a real charmer. She’d gotten her come-up off of scamming men and had done a damn good job of it too.

Nevertheless, everyone has a price, and she wasn’t cheap by a long shot. Her best-kept secret to this day was that she was an undercover escort for some very powerful men, many of which he had his own ties with. So naturally, he’d kept his interactions with her very discreet. Taniyah was a brilliant woman. She was bold with a mouthpiece that would make Jesus choose a life of sin. The last thing he needed was his wife finding out about another mistress he chose to keep on hand.
