Zaiere

I could hear the panic in Jade’s voice as she told me to meet her at the airport, and my heart began to race at all the things that could go wrong in this moment. I knew I couldn’t hold out much longer about the details with Taniyah and her having my son. On top of that, Monty was requesting another meeting, but this time it would take place at his office and sooner than I’d like. I knew my next few moves with him were going to be crucial because there was now another person that I would be responsible for, and I couldn’t risk Jade or my Jr. getting caught in the crossfire.

I thought about the shit I did with Dark Angel. Never in a million years did I think that this shit would come back to haunt me. I needed to make contact so that I could see what was really going on. If he was in the same boat as I was with Monty, then surely we could come up with a game plan of our own to get shit moving. I kept a secured laptop with access to everything I needed on it to keep me in the loop with what was up on the dark web.

See, our arrangement was more than just hacking. I helped this nigga launder money for an up-and-coming mayor who had dreams of becoming a U.S. representative. The only thing he didn’t have was money to improve his image. That’s when he got the bright idea to get involved with the wrong people, and next thing you know, I’m being recruited for my computer skills at a company called Serenity Scents & Finds. It was a candle company that also sold unique, antique pieces. The owner sold their candles as collections, providing a limited amount of each scent in one of a kind packaging. The themes of the collections were different each month and supplies were pretty much first come, first serve. All collections featured ten antique items and a variety of five scents that correlated to the esthetic of the pieces. Even I was impressed with the concept and enjoyed the integrity of the work that was featured.
However, even though the store made significant profits, it was all a front. Over eight months, we laundered nearly two million, six hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The whole situation was like some shit in a movie. Once again, my life had gotten hectic, and all I wanted was peace. Although the money was good, the risks weren’t worth the reward, so I stepped away from it all and had no regrets about it. I had one last chat with Dark Angel about a month after I left the company and never heard from him again. There definitely wasn’t any bad blood between us, so I wasn’t sure what Monty could be alluding to.
I shifted my focus back to Jade and tried to find the words to give her some comfort. Her brother was already showing significant signs of improvement, and her nephews were doing well too. They would feel the impact for a few days, but there was no harmful damage done. For the most part, she’d been quiet and held a pensive stare at the floor of the airport. The flight was set to depart in 30 minutes, and we’d barely said anything to each other.

I wasn’t sure if she’d told her family about us being in a relationship either, so I was going to follow her lead. A lot was going on, and us being at odds would do nothing but cause more stress than necessary.
She took a deep breath and burst into tears. I hated seeing her like this. I asked her if she was okay, and she nodded yes, but the look on her face said otherwise. I told her to close her eyes and relax. There’d been nothing but positive reports since hearing the news about the accident, so she had nothing to stress herself over. I reminded Jade that love and the best doctors around surrounded her brother, and I could immediately see some of the tension leave her shoulders. She closed her eyes once more, and I checked on our hotel reservations to make sure we could have a moment of privacy as we figured out what the next steps would be for her brother and nephews.

As much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to go ahead and let her know what was going on with Taniyah and Monty. She was going to be pissed, but I don’t think it would be something that would run her off. Jade was far from a pushover, and the one thing I knew she respected the most was honesty, so the sooner this information was told to her, the better. Shit was already going downhill fast, and I needed support of my own.
