Zaiere
“SON OF A BITCH!”
I left my office in a panic as soon as the alert from Jade’s phone came through.
Where in the hell was her body guard, I thought to myself as I called Kentrell and Dustin on 3 way. I told them it was time to be on high alert and that Jade was in an accident.Monty was there for only God knows what and we needed to make sure she was safe ASAP. We’d only been back in the city for one day and already hell was breaking lose. We didn’t even get a chance to see the new house before Monty got to her and a weight of regret filled my chest.
When I promised to love her, I never imagined getting her into a position like this. Hell I didn’t even see this coming for my own life. Here I was attempting to build something more for the both of us when really, it was looking like she would’ve done better without me dragging her into my mess.
How could I expect her to fully trust me if she always feels the need to watch her back? How could I keep my family safe if something like this could happen within a matter of hours? I obviously couldn’t call the police and my thoughts were too all over the place to come up with a proper plan.
The goal for now was to get somewhere safe to lay our heads for the night.
16 hours earlier
"Babe, I know you’re pretty shook right now but we need to leave as soon as possible. If there are any valuables you need to pack, now’s the chance to do it because we won’t be coming back.” I said with a somber tone and anxious to get moving.
She looked at me without saying a word and I knew that the silence would be temporary. I watched her move carefully around her apartment, taking notice of the things she grabbed. To my surprise, she had multiple safes in her home that held plenty of money, her passport and a few handguns I never knew she carried. There was a vibe coming from her that I couldn’t put my finger on but something about it made me nervous. I’d never seen her like this. There was a look in her eyes that didn’t match her soul and I was praying that the woman I loved wasn’t lost to me for good.
My heart began to race at the thought of us being over. Jade wasn’t the one to put up with drama. And I honestly couldn’t be mad if she decided that this unnecessary bullshit we were going through was too much to take on, especially so early in a relationship. It was getting under my skin that I still didn’t know the full extent of the work that Monty wanted me to do. I let myself get lost in thought while she packed her bags until I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder.
I took her by the hand and led her to the car that was waiting for us. There was a lot that needed to be discussed but for now, the ride to a new start was going to be a quiet one.
