"I didn't have to search 'cause I still know your number

I bet that you didn't think that I'd remember

Just because it didn't work

Doesn't mean it's meaningless to me

It just wasn't meant to be" ~Chicago L. T.

Summary: When Harry and Louis first started to like each other, it wasn't much more than a friendship. When it turned into something more though, suddenly their whole word changed. Not because of all the fairytales they got to experience but because of a management also known as Modest! which doesn't allow them to be who they are, show whom they love in public. Not even years after the One Direction hiatus, long after they were really their management. Because some contracts don't end that easy and some signatures can't be withdrawn.

And considering that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are not really that kind of type no one knows, it becomes clear that hiding their relationship was probably just the last little push into a life filled with writing songs, touring, stunts and public appearances and less and less of their love; of spending time together. So ending things in good therms would be much better than being separated in other ways, is it? That's what Harry and Louis thought breaking up with each other, but to be honest: good therms haven't been that "good" and the last "Goodbye" was never followed by another "hello". That was before Louis' new album came out and Harry just thought about how proud his no-longer-boyfriend was when he released "Fine Line" and therefore more or less forced himself to listen to it; to support the man he loves. Before he listened closely and realised that maybe, just maybe, he made a big mistake letting go of the blue-eyed man who writes songs about him anyway. Who loves him. And so does he.

When he turned from the spacious interior of his private jet and faced the window next to his right instead he was greeted by warm sun rays shining directly in his tired face. Dazzled by the brightness of the sun here, far above the earth and surrounded by the light blue sky only, he blinked a few times. And even though his eyes needed these seconds to get used to the new light, a smile slowly appeared on his face. When they were still together as a band, some day they hadn't been nervous or annoyed before another flight anymore. It was what they had to do and after a while they accepted it how it was. They accepted as long as they haven't had to fly in bad weather - Louis always hated to fly in bad weather, when the rain ran across the windows; the plane, when the wind made sure that they were asked to stay in their seats until the weather calmed down - already on the ground big storms; thunderstorms made him restless and far above the clouds small turbulences were enough to make the blue-eyed man nervous. Harry thought it was a good sign that the sun was shining today.

A various number of song-lines were still spinning through his mind while he silently prayed that Louis would answer his phone due to the fact his own phone carried on making the familiar "Duuuud Duuuud". There were not even two hours left until he would settle in Chicago and if he didn't get Louis on his phone soon, he would stand at the airport a hand-full bodyguards placed protective around him, making sure he could leave it safe and a driver waiting for him but wouldn't get a helpful answer where to drive him, because Harry wouldn't know. He wouldn't know where to go in the big city.
