Michael's POV

"Wait up you asshole!" I yell as Calum takes off down the side of the mountain.

Today we were mountain biking down an unmarked trail near the Blue Mountains. We couldn't actually go all the way to the top because those things are hella steep and way too hard for our less than amateur skills.

Even with that drawback, we had been working on this line for awhile now and we finally finished it last weekend.

I speed off behind Calum, not wanting to lose him in the thick brush. I hear him yelling 'whoo hoo!' into the air causing me to laugh. I bet Luke and Ashton would have loved to be out here with us, this is great!

I see a faint yellow stripe from Calum's bike go down the right path at the first Y intersection, so I decide to take the left path. A wooden bridge leads me up to a jump where I fly off but easily stick the landing. Huh, those armature skills might be getting better.

Both of the paths meet up and Calum speeds off ahead of me again. We skid around multiple corners, keeping up our fast pace.

Twigs and branches keep hitting me in the face and mud is splattering all over my clothes. I can't see much due to the fact my eyes are half closed so nothing will fly into them at this speed.

I subconsciously slowed down a tad so the onslaught of objects whipping me would subside, but this caused Calum to disappear from my sight.

"Calum!" I shout, checking to see if he was still there. I didn't get a response but I wasn't really concerned, it can be hard to talk while biking down a mountain.

I continue down the mountain at my more comfortable speed until I see a dirt ramp at the bottom of the next hill. I grin before peddling faster to gain some more speed.

I take the jump and pull a 360° counterclockwise spin.

"Holy shit that was awesome!" I whoop into the air, not believing I had actually pulled it off.

Going at a faster speed due to the jump, I continue down the path nearing the end.

All of a sudden I see a yellow bike tipped over sideways and Calum lying on the ground next to it groaning in pain. There was a tree in the middle of the path that he must have slammed into. I immediately press down on the brakes because I was still riding at a fast pace from the jump.

This was my first mistake.

Because I hit the breaks so hard, it caused me to do an endo and fly over the handlebars. I was flung into the tree before landing on top of Calum and my bike landing on top of me.

"Fuck!" I yell in pain. Something was definitely broken.

"Are you okay Cal?" I ask, trying to push my bike off of me but a shooting pain flys up and down my right arm.

"I-I think I broke some ribs but other than that, and you being on top of me, I'm just peachy." He spits through his pain.

"I'm trying to get up you twat! I think I broke my arm or something." I hiss, trying again to move the bike off of me, this time successfully.

"Ok give me a second." I breathe, trying to ease the pain in my arm.

"I would any other day Michael but I literally cannot breathe right now." Calum says before helping me get up.

"We need to get medical attention." I say, clutching my arm.

"No shit Sherlock! Leave the bikes, who gives a fuck anyway, they're ruined. You got your phone on you?" He asks taking little sharp breaths in between words to take some pressure off his ribs.
