Your POV
We all sit down for dinner and the kiddos continue to tell us about their day and their time with Lizzie. I sit listening intently, wondering how my life turned into this. Just a few months ago, I was a single mom, still in college, with my new place, not knowing what my life meant. And now, I'm sitting here with my amazing girlfriend, and our two sweet kids. I'm the happiest I have ever been.
"What are you thinking about over there babe?" Scarlett asks.
"Just about how amazing my life has been these last few months and how happy I am." I grab on to Scarlett's hand and give it a kiss.
"I love that you're happy babe." She squeezes my hand. "What do you kiddos think about a movie night? We can get some ice cream and put on a movie as a family!"
Both kids jump up and down with excitement and yes's! "Okay, help us clean up dinner and then you guys can go put your pj's on and pick a movie."
As if the world was ending, Jay and Rose sprint to get everything cleaned up and put away. We all go upstairs to get changed. "How are you feeling babe, any pain?" Scarlett asks as she stands in the doorway already changed.
"I'm doing a lot better, no pain at all! Thank you for all your help, I don't know how to thank you."
"You're my love, I'm always going to help you." Scarlett moves closer to me and pulls me in for a gentle kiss.
"We are ready!!" is all we hear from the two downstairs all ready for a movie night.
"We should get down there before chaos starts." I laugh as I walk down the stairs hand in hand with Scarlett.
"So, what movie did you two pick?" I ask while I scoop the ice cream for everyone.
"We picked the Croods movie mama!" Rosie exclaims.
"Thats a perfect movie. Is that good with you Jay?"
"Yes mama!" Jay jumps up when he sees I have the ice cream bowls in hand.
The movie beings and we are all snuggled up on the couch like one big happy family. I know Scarlett and I aren't married, but it feels like we already are. I mean isn't that how most lesbian relationships go!
By the end of the movie, the kids are sitting on the floor while Scarlett and I are snuggled into one another on the couch. I notice every so often, Jay looking around and then back at Scarlett and I. I think nothing of it the first few times, until it keeps happening.
"Jay, sweetheart, is everything okay?" I ask, a bit worried.
"Yeah mama, I actually wanted to say something to you and mommy." Jay says a bit scared. Scarlett pauses the movie and even Rose is looking confused.
"What is it Jay, you can tell mama and I." Scarlett jumps in hoping to make Jay more comfortable.
"Are we a family?" Jay asks.
"Where is this coming from bubs?" I ask him.
"Are we a family? Like is this how it's going to be forever? Can we be a family? We all love each other. Rose is my little sister; I call Scarlett mommy. So, are we a family? Can this be forever? I want to be a family mama." I sit there shocked, not knowing what to say. Mainly because I feel the same way. We act like a family, but I'm not sure. Scarlett and I have not discussed this. As I sit there contemplating what to say, I see Scarlett shift in her seat and open her mouth.
"Well Jay, we are a family. I love your mama more than she will ever know. I also love you so much and I will always continue to love you both. You guys were so unexpected in mine and Roses life, you guys were the people we never knew we needed. And I'm so glad you asked that question. We are a family Jay and I want this to be forever too." Again, I sit there shocked by the words that Scarlett just spoke. She is amazing and I sit here dumbfounded with a huge smile on my face.
Disregarding that the children are in front of us, I turn and grab Scarlett's face and kiss her like there is no tomorrow. I grab hold of my new forever and I never want to let go.
"Ewwwww, mama and mommy please stop." Rosie says, causing Scarlett and I to break a part laughing.
Before we can turn, I feel Jay jump up on the couch and hug the both of us, Rosie joining in right after. Now I am the happiest I've ever been.
We stay like this until the movie is over. We put both kids to bed and head to our room to enjoy an amazing night snuggled up with one another. No words need to be said. Scarlett and I just lay there, hand in hand looking into each other's eyes, stealing kisses every so often.
Scarlett POV:
As Y/N and I sit there looking lovingly into each other's eyes, I can't help but think about what Jay said and what I said in return. I meant every word. I want Y/N and Jay to be my family. I want to be at every major event, school, work, or other for the both of them. Y/N has become so important to me.
I have all these plans and hopes for the future. However, that future keeps looking closer and closer. I don't want to stay girlfriends with Y/N, I want more. I've been married before and the public knows it. I don't want Y/N to think we will end up like my exes. Because she is different, we are different.
I know it hasn't been very long, but I want to marry her already. I want her to be mine. I want us to officially be a family, but before that can happen, I want her to meet my family and I want to meet hers. She has met my friends and I hers. I want to know how she grew up and I want to show her family that I can take care of her and Jay.
"What's going on in that pretty head of yours Scarlett, I can tell you're thinking intently."
"I want to meet your family and I want you to meet mine. Maybe we can plan a dinner for Sunday. We can get it all prepped tomorrow."
"That might be a problem babe." Y/N responds a bit nervous.
"Why is that sweetheart?"
"My family and I don't talk. Cait is my family, so is Jay and you and Rose. My family disowned me when I told them I was gay. We casually meet up from time to time, but we don't talk. They know about Jay, but we don't ever see each other. But I would love to meet your family." Y/N explains to me. She isn't sad though, it's just like we are having a regular conversation.
"I'm sorry you went through that with your family, I know that must have been hard. But I would love to meet your family. And maybe we can invite Cait and her boyfriend too. Since she is your family."
"I would love that babe. Now let's get some sleep. I love you so much Scarlett."
"I love you too Y/N."
