Dazai had drove the two of you to a secluded area that watched over the Sea of Japan. The car was parked on the soft sand, a couple of meters away from the water. Both of you sat on the hood of the car, a blanket spread across beneath you. The take-out had separated you and Dazai from one another.
The sea of stars above you was beautiful as ever, the luminous lights winked in the night sky. The stars met the moon and danced with each other, swirling in the sky of madness. The reflection in the ocean set the perfect scene, one a camera could do no justice for—not even da Vinci could capture its essence.
You sat criss-crossed, holding the styrofoam box of deliciousness in your hand and a pair of chopsticks in the other. You looked over to Dazai, who had been watching the scenery ahead. "Is this where you take all the girls you want to sleep with?"
"Who says I just want to sleep with you?" He asked, looking at your figure take a sip from your fountain drink. "A double suicide sounds much more pleasing."
"Not a chance." You said while laughing. Meanwhile, Dazai frowned at his denied request, drinking his beverage.
A comforting silence fell over you both as you continued to finish off the food. You were surprised to not see any other people walk on the beach—it may have been dangerous, but you expected at least a few civilians.
"My, the moon is quite beautiful tonight." Dazai said, hinting he was an avid moon watcher, a selenophile.
"Very." You say, beginning to lay down to star gaze the magnificent connections between stars.
Your head craned to watch Dazai as he cleaned up the food, placing the boxes into the to-go bag. He finished, placing the trash to the side and lying a few inches away from you, afraid that if he were to touch you, he would break your figure. He hesitated with his next words, turning on his side and propping his head up with his arm to look at you. "Would you be willing to consider this a date?"
You sat in thought for a moment, humming to show you're thinking of his question. Would you want to? That didn't matter. What mattered was if you got the job done, earning his trust in you to eventually betray him. You needed to do this, to convince him of your trust.
"Would you like me to?" You questioned, with a grin to light up your face.
"Would it sound desperate if I said 'yes'?" He spoke, earning a chuckle out of you. You finally turned to face him, using your left arm as a pillow, while your other rested against your body.
"Yes, it would." You spoke jokingly.
The inclement night sent a coldness throughout your entire body. The light breeze blowing through your locks of hair made you look so fragile. Your eyes began to fall shut from the calm of the night, but suddenly, you felt a sense of warmth on your right arm. You slowly opened your eyes to find Dazai watching you.
