The two boys had stepped into a much secluded room. Kind of cramped and dark, in Taehyung's opinion, but nothing he can't bear for his lover's sake.  "Your mum said something about guardian angel?" Taehyung decided to break the ice.

Jeongguk just hummed stumbling here and there when on his way to the light switch. He giggled a little as Taehyung held him by his waist, "Careful darling . . . don't want you hurting, yeah?" Again, the younger found himself humming, shyly at that.

"You remember what I said about my father?" Jeongguk questioned.

"That he abuses your mom?"

The younger boy nodded in the dark, "Yeah. He wasn't always like that."

"What changed?"

"An unfortunate incident that occurred long back changed him intensely. It took a big piece of him. See the lady on the picture?" As Jeongguk switches the light on, Taehyung's face started to lose it's colour. "She's the one, my guardian angel."

Taehyung stepped back, his vision capturing every tiny details of the surrounding. Jeongguk stood next to the picture, incense stick in his hand. "W-What's all this? H-How?" The older whispered.

Oblivious to the uprising panic within Taehyung, Jeongguk prayed in front of the picture before he settled on the cushioned seats.

"Taehyung, she's Dr Kim Zia. My guardian angel."

Back in time, around 1998, the Jeon family was based on the border camp site. The head of the family, Jeongguk's father, was a part of the armed forces — the captain of the 243rd battalion.

It was that time of the year when each troop were assigned on special missions or simply guarding the DMZ near the 38th parallel.

Battalion 243 were quite lucky to have been posted on a mission, much rather the luck was in favour of the captain, considering his responsibilities as the man of the family — his conceived wife and his three years old son.

"We'll be fine, dear, you should head back to the office." Mrs Jeon kept reassuring. The conversation between the two adults inflicted a switch in the youngling studying them with curious eyes.

"Yes Dadda, Jeonggukie will look after Mumma." The excitement to take care of his mother surely enlightened him. "Jeonggukie is a big boy." His carefree words were promising  enough in the land of threats they resided on.

"See Dadda! Now you have nothing to worry about. Our Jeonggukie will take care of his Mumma." The hearty chuckles and exchange of praises made the boy smug.
