The bright sun wakes me up when I sit up I remember what happened I kissed Zuri but god I was a fucking mess. Today i'm going to try and be more chill about it...well that's if I don't get all red as soon as I see her god I am a mess of panic for the first time ever I feel like putting my hair up which I never really do I check my phone to see the time I have lots of time to get ready for school but there's also a message from Zuri a smile immediately escapes

'morning, Ruth I would like to say I like you and I would like to meet you out by my house this morning thanks' her text is very formal almost like she didn't write it I head to the bathroom on the floor my old my chemical romance shirt sits in the corner along with the rest of my "emo" phase I actually grab a pair of old blue knock-off converse they have a wheel in the bottom of the heel I put them on after I head down the stairs and slide to the kitchen with a huge smile that I can't get off my face moms at the kitchen table

"You put your hair up, why?"

"Nothing, don't worry about it" I put a piece of bread down in the toaster

"your up way too early, your hairs up and you're wearing your none raggedy shoes" she gasps

"OH.MY.GOD do you have a crush!?"

"WHAT! No, knock it off mom" but she keeps pushing

"What's his name?" my heart drops knowing that she has no clue

"no mom stop i'm going to go shower since I have the time" I know I checked the time before but I didn't realize it was Seven O'Five I turn the shower on then remember the message Zuri sent me I rush to my room to reply so I don't leave her on seen

'I would love nothing more then to meet up with the one they call Zuri' I reply with the same formality then head for the shower I hear mom's probably now ex boyfriend come into the house 'ooo a nice shower and a soap opera' I try to ignore it but when there fucking louder the the shower water itsself then its pretty hard the dye from my hair starts to drip 'I'm going to have to redo my hair when I get home' when I get out I hear mom stomp up the stairs 'aaand she lost this arguement' then the front door slams 'oop nope there over finally thats probably the longest record for how long a boyfriends lasted' its seven twenty-four when I get out of the shower

"Rulin honey can you get me my flask"

'dumbass really think i'm gonna get it for her yeah nice one, oh shit my toast'

"oh man it's burnt"

"ru?" mom peeks her head around the corner

"love you honey and I hope you have a good day also honey, catch" she tosses me a condom "MOM THE FUCK" she wink then says

"be safe" she heads up the stairs 'meh I'll just give it to Luke I know he's not a virgin I mean not like he'll need it but hell why not' I start my walk to Zuri's house at eight O'clock almost exactly when I get near her house I see her waiting at the bottom of her driveway "heyyy Ruth how'd you sleep?" She asks, still clearly flustered to be within a 5 foot radius of me. I mean I don't have a lot of room to speak. My heart is going a mile a minute and feels like it's gonna rip itself out of my chest

"I slept well, you?" I say as calmly as humanly possible

"I uh I slept fine" there's a short silence

"so would you like to walk with me my dear Zuri the great" I poke at the message she sent this morning

"right heh I totally forgot how cringy that text was but... yes I would like to walk with you my knight, hand" she puts her hand out for me to hold this seems like a normal thing now
