It was about 8am when I woke up, the sun damn near blinding me before I pulled my cover over my entire head. I stayed like that for a second before reaching from under the blanket and grabbing my phone. I bring it back under with me, squinting against the bright screen as I unlock it and smile gently at the good morning text from him. I click the notification, typing out a good morning and sending it. Next I open my musi app, clicking on "Pretty Wings" by Maxwell as I get out of bed. I hum along to the song playing out loud, slowly swaying my hips to the beat as I start going through the process of getting ready for the day.
About 20 minutes later, I walk out the bathroom with a fresh clean face and curls styled in a cute messy bun on the back of my head. "Good Woman" by La'Porsha Renae was playing now, me singing along while picking out my outfit for the day. It's been about a week since we started working at the new nail salon and since I reunited with Thai. It's been going smoothly in both scenarios. My job hasn't been toxic or overbearing since everyone is so nice and Thai has been taking things really slow with me. We hold hands and hug but kissing is out of the question. When I asked him why he was so hesitant on everything, he said he didn't want to push this relationship too quickly. I haven't seen or heard from Jalen in a long time and I think its best that I never do. I do pray for him and his brothers though, always thanking God that me and my girls are safe and healthy. Just as I finished sliding into my uniform, my phone rung and the goofy picture of Olivia popped onto my screen. I slide the answer button before putting my phone on speaker.

"Dang I thought yall weren't gonna show up!" I said jokingly as I continued fluffing Linda's hair up. Her wavy hair bounced a bit, landing on her shoulders in a new beautiful platinum color. Linda gave a satisfied smile as she nodded her head. "Oh Macy, I love it! It's just like I wanted!" I nodded proudly as she ran her fingers through her hair on each side of her head. "You know we had to stop and get some coffee, it's gonna be a long busy day. I'm booked all the way to closing time today." Tahny said as she sat her things at her desk beside her station. She opened her laptop, starting to clock in as Olivia did the same at her station. "At least it's not 7 yet, still got 2 minutes til you're late." Yasmine said as she started to put her supplies away from her last client. "Alright Ms. Linda, I'm gonna take a few pictures of your hair and you'll go to Georgia at the front to get checked out."
After I took the pictures, Linda tipped me $50 and walked over to the front desk to finish paying. "If there is one thing about this job that I love, it's the tips." Olivia made a sound of agreement as she started to run a tub full of warm water as her customer got comfortable in the massage chair. "And what color did you want for your feet today Maddy?"

The day seemed to go by quickly, before I knew it is was 12 and time for us to go out to lunch. I finished up La'Porsha's nails, leaving her hand under the LED lights just for the top coat to cure and settle. "What do yall wanna eat for lunch today, I kinda want Chipotle." I said to the rest of the girls as I rubbed cuticle oil on her lower nails. "Alright babes, go to Georgia, check out and I'll go ahead and get you scheduled for three weeks from now." La'Porsha handed me a tip before going off to the front desk. "Chipotle sounds good." Yasmine said as she washed her hands and I got La'Porsha's next appointment set. "Lemme pack up and set up for my next client then we'll head out over there. Thai joining us again today?" Macy said with a tease in her voice, I waved her off, smiling as I checked my phone for any messages from him. "Not today, he's working with Mateo and his tio out of town." After we all packed up to go to lunch, everyone got in my car and we drove to the nearest Chiptole location.
"Do you think you're in love?" Yasmine asked randomly as we sat down at our table with our food. I snapped my eyes up at her, squinting at the female. Macy hit her arm, most likely not liking that she was so blunt with the question to me. "I honestly don't know. We've been taking it slow. I think with us having such a weird past together he wants to move like snails so we don't mess it up again. Maybe we'll make it far. My hopes aren't extremely high but I'm excited to see how far we go together y'know?" I talked while unpacking my food, unraveling the foil around my tortillas and opening up my packed bowl of food. "I think he's good for you, he's very nice and has a actual job. Every time he's with you he's smiling or just plain starring at you, even when we're all together." I blushed at Olivia's words, Thai's full smile popping into my mind as I begun to eat my food. It went silent as the rest of the girls followed, taking our time to eat since our lunch was over an hour.
