CHAPTER 26 - Hotel - the next day
It is the next day and Diana is walking through the hotel, keen to explore the area. She walks past a conference being held in one of the hotel ballrooms, her focus on the map in her hand when she accidentally bumps into someone else. She drops the maps and brochure she was carrying and quickly bends down to pick it up.
"Oh my god. I am so, so sorry. I didn't mean to.... "
"Miss, are you alright?" a male voice enquires.
Diana, still distracted from gathering up the brochures, replies. "Yes, yes, I am fine. I am so sorry. I didn't see where I was going, and..."
"Mrs Wong?" the male voice now asks, suddenly.
Diana stops in her brochure gathering and looks up at the male. It turns out to be Tyson, her former student, though she doesn't recognize him at first.
"Yes, that's me.... I mean, I was. As of like 4 months ago. I'm Ms Yeo now. I mean, Diana. I'm sorry, have we met?"
Tyson now smiles. "I used to be one of your students. Tyson. The one who got away."
"Tyson? Oh wow, look at you. You've grown. How have you been? What on earth are you doing here? " Diana asks.
"I was in the conference in there..," Tyson indicating to the room they were standing in front off, "and I just needed to get some fresh air. These kind of things get real boring, real fast."
Diana turns around and sees the conference banners.
"What about you? What are you doing here?" Tyson asks.
"Honestly, I have no idea. Anyway, I thought of exploring this city while I still can," Diana admits.
Tyson ponders about this before suggesting, "I have a wonderful idea. How about I show you around the city, and you can help me by getting me out of this damn conference? Win win for the both of us."
"I don't want to trouble you. What if your boss finds out. Won't you get fired for not attending this conference thing?" Diana worries.
"I think my boss is pretty understanding. In fact, he would encourage me to ditch it and accompany a beautiful lady around the city," Tyson playfully answers, winking at the last comment.
Hesitantly, Diana says, "I don't know......"
Just then, the door to the conference room opens and people start to file out. A group of attendees spot Tyson and Diana. They make their way to Tyson.
"There you are, Mr. Kang. I was hoping to get your take on the new tech......." one of the attendees says, quickly approaching Tyson and Diana.
Tyson watches Diana walking backwards, and away from him. He pulls a "help me" face, to which Diana, in a moment of recklessness, gives him a goodbye salute and walks out of the hotel.
