Summery: Rafe's not a big relationship guy when it comes to you. Sometimes all you need is a little push to see your worth again.

You'd never been more confused. Despite Kie's distaste towards the blonde and JJ's urges to beat the shit out of him, the Pogues were good about keeping their instincts down. You'd never been happier, that's what you'd been able to convince everyone. There was a change they were all able to see in you, even if it wasn't real to you, it looked real to everyone else. They felt glad you'd finally found some sort of peace even if it was in their least favorite inhabitant of the island.

Sure you'd been like this before, in like with someone. It was only a summer thing though. A touron that everyone was unsure if they could even call him that for how long he stuck around. It was in the summer going into freshman year, he was a sophomore. He wasn't a catch but he was sweet to you, for sure. Holding your hand, brushing his fingers in your hair and sharing his minimal clothes he had packed for the summer months. But alas, summer ended and so did the growing relationship between you and the sophomore boy. It didn't completely crush you, but for a little while you were bummed.

Until recently, you'd always joked that the fling was the closest you'd get to love. The Pogues would laugh and tease how you'd never settle. How you'd end up just like your life in those dumb MASH games in middle school. Alone on the cut with your dog, sports car and two children. They promised they'd visit frequently, and you'd laugh. That changed at a bonfire on the beach, unfortunately for the Pogues, who enjoyed the teasing.

"Care for a drink pretty lady?" Your cheeks heated in a blush, lips curling upward you snatched the drink away from your dumb blonde best friend, bringing it to your awaiting lips, "Don't be so eager, nobodies going to take it." He teased, downing his own drink.

"Right back at you, doofus." You turned and he had flipped you the bird. Sensing it, your arm was quick to make its way straight up to send one right back at him. Hearing his laugh, you couldn't help but turn to see the blonde now turning himself away from you, smiling to himself while helping another customer wanting some shitty beer to calm the sticky heat from the outer banks summer.

It was then you hit something firm, beer sloshing around and onto your chest. "Shit! I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention." You were quick to put your drink down, looking to see who you hit. Only to be met with the deepest blue eyes you'd ever seen. Sure, JJ's were blue but they were light and innocent-even if the boy was the farthest thing from it. These were the ocean. Dark and captivating, you choked on your apology.

The boy grumbled, looking into your sorry gaze he recognized you. His lips opened, ready to tear a new one at you when he hesitated. His frown turned into a sweet smile and his hands gently clasped over your shoulders. "It's no big deal. Help me clean up though, right?" You nodded, looking down in embarrassment you missed the dirty look he gave the blonde pogue who had been eyeing you all night. You missed the triumphant look the kook shot to him, dirty looks being passed around.

Maybe if you had seen it you wouldn't have helped him clean his shirt or have stayed up so late talking about life with the kook. Sneaking away to his house when things turned sour between the Pogue's or you just wanted to hear his voice, see him. Now you regretted getting so addicted.

"Y/n!" Your best friend threw rocks at your window, hitting the glass hard and bouncing to the grass. You opened the lock, pushing it up and sticking your face into the open air, a rock hitting your brow, you scrunched your face.
