Visaera woke from a full night's sleep feeling almost like herself again. The stress of the last few days had taken a toll on her and the rest, as well as the long bath, had done her well. Despite the cramps in her lower belly, she joined her family for breakfast, she actually wore a smile on her face.
"No more hysterics?" Rhaenyra asked softly, running her hand over her daughter's hair and analyzing her face. Visaera merely shrugged.
"I'll try, but I can't make any guarantees," she answered with a somber shrug. Her mother shook her head but smiled as if she perfectly understood what her daughter must be feeling.
"Give it a few days, you'll feel more like yourself again." Rhaenyra assured her. At the vague mention of her expected bleeding, Visaera grimaced and focused her attention on her breakfast.
"What had everyone planned for the day?" she asked, effectively changing the subject.
"We're going to the Dragonpit," Jace offered, "Now that we know Vermax can saddle two, I'm going to take Baela on a flight." Envy stirred in her gut, even as she forced a smile onto her face.
"Rhaena?" Her sister shrugged.
"Grandmother is taking me on Meleys," she offered with an apologetic smile.
"So, I'm to spend my day alone?" she asked softly.
"I will stay with you, Visaera," Joffrey offered sweetly. Visaera couldn't help but smile back at her little brother.
"Thank you, very much, Joff," she replied with a hug, "But I think you would do better accompanying the twins for the afternoon." She kissed the top of his head and then reached across the table for another piece of freshly baked bread.
"And you, mother?" She finally asked.
"I'm going to sit with the King and read to him for a while. Then, I've been asked to join the Small Council for a meeting." For a moment, she considered joining Helaena in her chambers for an afternoon of embroidery, but the mere thought already had her hand cramping. When breakfast was finally over, Visaera took Joffrey's hand and walked with him to the nursery.
Peaking in on Helaena, she did find her aunt busying herself with needlework.
"Don't you tire of that?" Visaera asked.
"Sometimes," Helaena admitted, but we are women; we make do with what we have. "Still, I may go for a flight on Dreamfyre later." Visaera groaned. Everyone was set on flying their dragons on the same day, leaving Visaera with no one to spend the afternoon with.
The King's rooms were, once again, filled with smoke when she joined her mother at his bedside. Rhaenyra was reading quietly from a Valyrian tome; the King barely coherent. After a while, her mother held the book out to her and Visaera took a turn trying to read from the text. She wasn't nearly as good as Rhaenyra and she repeatedly fumbled over the words. Still, her grandfather smiled encouragingly at her.
"Very good," he approved, his voice little more than a choked whisper. The sight of him in such a condition made her eyes water and, after a while, she went out into the corridor to get some air.
"Can we have the King taken outside?" she asked her mother when she returned, "Perhaps the fresh air would do him some good, as well." Rhaenyra thought on her words and then nodded.
"I will see to it." Viserys was carried all the way to the bailey, Visaera walking alongside them, keeping her grandfather company. Sitting up on the balcony and looking down at the yard, Visaera held her grandfather's hand and they watched Ser Criston warm up for training. Shortly after, Aemond joined the knight in the yard.
