*This fic has been finished for well over a year and I still think about Visaera daily. I cannot tell you how long I have been working on this final installment in honor of season 2. I hope you love it as much as I loved writing it. So ends the story of Visaera and her princes.*
"Vis, it's been six years!" Jace groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "You married Aemond, I married Helaena, hells, Baela married Cregan Stark! Rhaena needs to do her part!"
"If she doesn't want to marry, who are you to command her? You are not King yet, brother." Visaera reminded him.
"What happens to the name Velaryon when Rhaena dies without an heir?" Jace asked bitterly.
"The moment Rhaena marries, the Velaryon name dies anyway. But Joffrey still—" Visaera paused, the wheels in her head turning. "Joffrey..." she repeated slowly, a sly smile stretching across her face.
"Joffrey?" Jace echoed incredulously.
"Think about it, Jace. Joff is only ten and three. He won't be ready to marry for another five years, mayhaps longer. It would give Rhaena the freedom she desires, and we know Joffrey would be a respectful, kind husband to her..."
Jace pondered in silence for a moment before sighing and shaking his read; running his hand through his dark curls.
"It's not a bad idea..." he finally agreed. "I'll speak to her on the matter." Visaera smiled proudly. "You know, I still think you would have made a good Queen." Jace added. Visaera snorted, shaking her head vehemently.
"That, I most certainly would not have..." she disagreed with a smile.
"Mama! Mama, mama, mama!" Visaera whipped around, catching Alicaera in her arms just before she was knocked to the floor. "They hatched!"
"Both of them?" Visaera asked, blinking in surprise.
"Both of them!" five-year-old Alicaera squealed with an excited nod.
"Well, take me to see them." Visaera stated with a grin, reaching for her daughter's hand. Skipping with delight, Alicaera led her mother further into the keep and up to the nursery where the twins were playing on the floor with wooden dragons.
Visaera froze in the doorway, her eyebrows raised in bewilderment. There, playing beside her toddlers, were two tiny dragons, both of them different shades of silver; twins as well.
"I told you they would hatch," Aemond's voice startled her out of her shock. Her husband was leaning against the wall by the hearth, watching the scene with a proud smirk.
"Alicaera's didn't..." Visaera replied, crossing the room toward him. "But congratulations on being a smug fuck." she told him smartly. Aemond's grin widened as he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close.
"Daemond and Aellora are going to have a fit when we take them away to the Dragonpit..." he murmured, planting a kiss on her brow as they watched the twins embrace their dragons.
"Mmm, it will be good for all of us. Taking the twins to see them will give you and I an excuse to see our own dragons." It had been weeks since Visaera had flown on Carrion; occupied with raising her children and seeing to her obligations at court. Despite her choice to refuse the crown, Rhaenyra's had insisted that her daughter sit in with the small council and stay informed on the political happenings of the realm.
"Are you up for a flight to Dragonstone?" Aemond offered, trailing gentle kisses down the side of her neck.
"Perhaps," she replied with a smile. "Can Aegon come?" Vis asked brightly, bouncing excitedly on her tiptoes. Aemond groaned and rolled his eye. Although Aemond had accepted Visaera and Aegon's relationship, there were still moments he found himself jealous of their connection. Even after six years, Aegon and Visaera seemed to share something he would never quite understand, and yet, she didn't ever seem to love Aemond any less because of it.
"If you wish," he finally agreed, willing to indulge her in nearly anything she desired. Vis leaned against his chest, watching the children play on the floor.
"One of these days, we should take Caera..." she mused.
"To Dragonstone?" Aemond clarified, pushing her silver curls back and nuzzling her neck, inhaling her sweet scent and making Visaera shiver.
"Yes. I think she might claim a riderless dragon, like I did." Visaera answered, watching their eldest timidly survey her siblings' dragons.
"She's only five, my love..." Aemond reasoned.
"And her two siblings, only toddlers, both have dragons. You remember how it felt, the same as I." Visaera replied, an edge of pain to her voice. While finding Carrion had made her feel complete, there would always be a pang of sorrow that accompanied the memory.
