"high school musical - city high." jihye's gaze fixated towards the A5 paper, clutched between her fingers as if it would fly away.

she raised her head after hearing a groan from iseul, who sat across from her. they sat on a bench in the middle of their school, beneath a large cherry tree, where the shade kept them cool from the hot weather.

iseul moved to seize the paper, gasping as she read the words, "oh my- are you gonna go?" jihye could see a glimpse of excitement, glimmering in her best friend's eyes.

brushing through his hair with his fingers, jeno, with a small but very attractive smile on his face, jogged towards the two, taking a seat beside jihye.

he snatched the paper from iseul, dumping his soccer bag on the ground beside him. jihye didn't miss the thrilled glance he gave iseul before facing herself. "you've got to get back on stage, ji. i miss watching you perform."

jihye sighed and slid her body weight onto the tabletop, her head resting on top of her crossed arms. there, she had the perfect view of the muscular build sitting next to her. perfect glossy black hair, perfect face structure, naturally pink and plump lips ... and his crazily attractive, to-die-for veiny hands.

the girl mentally shook off her thoughts, "i miss being on stage too. but you know i don't have time for this anymore." she sighed. jihye envisioned being on the familiar school auditorium stage. the stage was where she was the happiest. it was her comfort place. the place that caused her to smile the hardest she ever smiled.

it had already been almost a year since she suddenly disappeared from the performing arts department, abruptly leaving drama club and not showing up to audition for the roles in the school plays. being a devoted member, jihye had never missed a single meeting, or practice and always took part in the lead cast for all the annual school plays. which is why it surprised everyone when she suddenly left with no explanation.

the girl looked straight ahead, emptily staring at the year 9 hallways. "i just don't think i have the energy for anything anymore." she muttered.

her two friends looked at each other before glancing back at her with pitiful expressions. they knew the real reason why jihye was acting like this.

all because of lee seojun and his girlfriend new park yuri, who had practically taken over the entire performing arts department and were essentially ones who drove jihye to leave and never come back.

iseul shook her head, unsatisfied with the gloomy atmosphere. "jihye, i know it's been a while but like honestly? i think this could help you ... i don't know, bring back your old self with that heart-burning of passion for arts."

jeno nodded, "who cares about anyone else, this will be so good for you."

"mhm," jihye hummed, beginning to consider a good idea. she scrunched her face at the thought of having to see her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend's disgusted faces upon seeing her back in the auditorium. "yeah no, this is not a good idea. it's just gonna be embarrassing"

"come on now, how can it be embarrassing when everyone already knows that you - hanji, can  singlehandedly outsing everyone at this school?" iseul said, determined to convince her stubborn best friend.

jihye sat there, ignoring jeno and iseul whose eyes were burning holes through her body. when meeting eyes with them, she sighed. "well, i guess it is a duet audition, meaning many couples with high chemistry would easily steal all the parts," jihye said as she straightened her back.

jeno scoffed, "if you," he turned his head dramatically as he pointed to jihye, "don't get the part then this whole play might as well not happen."

a mischievous smirk washed upon jihye, body shifting towards jeno, linking her arms with his, shaking him. "audition with me, jeno."
