there they all stood in silence. still in shock.
the sun was setting outside, the sky turning from blue to orange and pink but it was still nice and warm.
"i can't believe you just did that hyuck." renjun was the first to speak, flipping through the pages of his script to read through his lines. chenle stood beside him, mirroring his older friend as he aggressively turned the pages of his own script.
renjun earned the role of the ryan whilst chenle got the coach. and to everyone's (more so renjun) disappointment, yuri got sharpay and seojun got chad.
"i can't believe it either." jihye remarked, deciding to sus out the bulky stapled papers in her hands. in big bold letter, it read 'high school musical - city high ; gabriella'
jisung and jaemin had already left for home, thrilled to have gotten easy roles with no lines. back up basketball players that was.
watching his friends all flip through their scripts, jeno walked towards the group, adjusting his bag that hung from one shoulder. "congrats guys." he cleared his throat, announcing his arrival. donghyuck, renjun and chenle all nodded in response, not lifting their heads up.
jihye found the sight to be laughable. she turned towards her best friend with a small smile, confused about how to feel. should she be yelling and threatening to end his life right there and then, or would it be better to be pitying him? especially since she had noticed that his smile looked forced and defeated.
"jeno, where were you?" jihye stumbled slightly as his arm wrapped around her shoulders. he blinked softly and grinned to himself at the sight of the script in her possession.
donghyuck suddenly felt disheartened by the sight of them two in the corner of his eyes. he acted obliviously unbothered and sniffled as he moved closer to renjun and chenle. he was just going to ignore them.
"i was just talking to coach kim about something and then something came up with jules," at the mention of his girlfriend's name, jihye's shoulders immediately fell low.
"-but look at you. i'm so happy for you." jeno beamed, turning the girl around to directly face her, his hands on her shoulders as he lightly shook her, expressing his thrill. jihye chuckled weakly.
from the side of his eyes, donghyuck couldn't help but feel jealous, but mostly, he was judging his friend for how touchy he was being with jihye.
as renjun and chenle announced their goodbyes, the three of them walked together towards the car park with the boys on either side of jihye.
"donghyuck, i never knew you could sing that well." jihye complimented.
the boy had his hands in his pocket, "well now you know." he sneered.

"alright, let's get started." ms baek clapped.
the main cast stood in a circle, dreadful to start the team bonding games after another long school day. jihye smiled to herself, the situation was very familiar to her - bringing back memories of when ms baek would make her lead the weekly icebreaker games before any rehearsal.
to her right, donghyuck had his legs spread apart, stretching his limbs and arms as if he was going to run a marathon, with a yawn. "it would be nice if you could close your legs. you're stinking up the room." renjun retorted next to donghyuck, earning a growl from the latter.
straight in front of them were seojun and yuri who had been giving jihye looks since she arrived here. the girl started to get very uncomfortable and irritated at their obsession with her. she didn't have a good feeling about having to be with them for the rest of the semester.
