"Are we close?"
"Almost done," Daryl mumbles in her ear. Lucky her, i want him that close...
"How do you know?"
"The signs are all there, Just gotta know how to read 'em." I say to her as I look around.
"What are we tracking?" Beth asks Daryl.
"You tell me." He replies.
When Beth looks at him, discouraged, he glances at her, then back at the forest around him. "You're the one who wanted to learn."
She looks around at her surroundings, noticing something on the floor.
"Well something came through here. The pattern's all zig-zaggy. It's a Walker." She states confidently.
I shrug my shoulders a little and nudge Daryl's arm with my elbow, "Maybe it's a drunk." I chuckle to myself as he rolls his eyes.
I look up at him to see him concentrating very hard. His eyes have barely left the trail, rubbing his chin as he studies the ground.
"I'm getting good at this. Pretty soon i won't need you at all." She jokes as she lifts the crossbow and keeps walking.
"Yeah, keep on tracking," He mumbles as he gestures forward and walks behind her.
Once we find the Walker, knelt by a corpse with its back to us, Beth turns to face us. "It's got a gun."
Daryl nods and gestures for her to go for it. The surrounding shrubbery means, that for me to have a good view of her, I have to stand in the small gap between Daryl and the tree, side on just like him, facing each other, inches apart.
As Beth lifts the crossbow and starts to walk, I decide to get a little playful, I whisper to him. "Hey handsome, fancy a good time?"
I place my hands on his chest and he can't help but take his eyes off of Beth, just for a split second to glance at me, I chuckle a little but don't take my hands off of him as I look back at Beth.
I gasp as Beth steps in a trap and fall. The walker notices and turns around, coming towards he. She lifts the crossbow and shoots but hits the cheek, not the brain.
Both Daryl and I immediately start running to her, I get to her and kneel down.
Daryl runs past us, bending down to take the crossbow from Beth and swings it at the Walker, bashing the side of its head with the limb, killing it. He immediately drops the crossbow and slides across the ground to us.
I feel around the trap and open it, getting it off of her. I take her foot into my hand.
"Can you move it?" Daryl asks, looking between Beth and her ankle.
She concentrates and manages to move it. "Yeah."
"Oh thank fuck! Beth you lucky son of a bitch. If that was a bear trap there'd be a stump where your foot should be." I say my breathing a little heavy, obviously got a bit panicked.
Daryl gently rubs my back "Relax Princess, she's okay."
Beth looks at me, she looks as if she has a question.
"Yeah?" I say, even though she didn't speak.
"Why did you come to me before killing the Walker? Surely it would be better to get rid of the danger first?" She asks, genuinely curious.
"Bethany Greene, don't you see this gorgeous piece of meat right here?" I chuckle gesturing to Daryl. "I know him, so I also knew that he would get rid of the danger before helping you, so I went straight to you."
