You watched the arena erupt, but you were silent. The Hershey Bears had lost to the Hartford Wolfpack, in your hometown in Connecticut. You watched your boyfriend Zach skate off the ice, you could see his frustration. He let in 4 goals on 23 shots, and you knew it would pain him to lose in front of you. You and Zach had been dating for 8 months and doing long distance for 3 months when your job took you back to your hometown. You rarely got to see each other until summer so every time you did get to see each other you both wanted it to be perfect. You rushed down to the player area, to see Zach before he could get too much in his head after the loss. He would always call you after every loss, close or not he was always very upset, and you would always be there for him. You waited by the locker room seeing some faces you hadn't seen in a while walk out. They all looked disappointed, you couldn't imagine how upset Zach was going to be. You watched Zach trudge out of the locker room looking at the ground, carrying his bag and pads.
"Zach!" He looked up startled. His frown started to disappear when he threw his bags down. You opened your arms as he ran over to you, and you pulled him in as close as you could.
"Y/N," he said over and over pulling your head to his chest and placing kisses on your head. You missed him so much even if it had only been 3 months since you last saw each other. He went to grab his bags and the two of you walked to your car. Zach's frown returned as you walked through the arena back to the car. The car ride was silent, you tried to talk to Zach but he didn't want to. You would ask questions he would nod or shake his head. As soon as you got to your apartment, you sat on your couch with Zach throwing his bags in your entrance area. He looked more upset than he was before,
"Zach?" you asked. He forced you to lie down with his head on your chest. You ran your hands through his hair as he lay on you.
"I'm sorry, I disappointed you," he said in a shaky tone.
"Love, you did not disappoint me, you could never, I am always proud of you," you kissed his forehead.
"But-" he paused to look up at you. You pulled his head back onto your chest,
"Shh, it's okay Zachy, I'm here," you rubbed his back.
"I just wanted this weekend to be perfect," he said. Your heart broke hearing him say that. You were so upset that he thought he had to earn your love through winning games.
"It will be perfect you know why?"
"Why?" He looked up at you. You pulled his face to yours, pecking his lips.
"Because you're here with me and have the whole weekend to be together, and no loss could ever change how I feel about you, Zach." He grabbed your face and pulled it to yours again, you deepened the kiss, placing your hands on his neck. You both broke apart for air,
"I love you Y/N,"
"I love you too Zach, no matter what," you kissed him again, "now what do you wanna do?"
"Can we just stay like this for a little longer?"
"Of course my love," he rested his head back on your chest, closing his eyes, and smiling.
