You had just finished your online schooling in Toronto, you were now on a hunt for a job with your new degree. You had been interning with the Toronto Marlies and were hoping you would get a job there once you finished school. You really wanted to get to know some of the players rather than just worrying about management and business aspects of the organization, your internship position prevented you from getting what you wanted.
You left your apartment earlier than usual and headed toward your work hoping you could talk to your boss about an actual job. You were on your phone walking trying to schedule the rest of your day after work when you bumped into someone.
"I'm so sorry," you said catching your phone as it slipped out of your hands. You look up to see a very attractive brunette with pretty blue eyes.
"No I'm sorry I wasn't looking," he smiled, "I haven't seen you on my walk yet, I'm here at this time almost every day, unless I'm out of town, I'm Joe," he held out his hand to shake yours.
"Y/N, it's nice to meet you,"
"Yeah you too, where are you off to?"
"Oh, I was just gonna grab a quick coffee before work,"
"Mind if I join?" he asked. You smiled and nodded, it was nice to have company for once on your journey to work. The two of you went inside the coffee shop that was just a couple of feet away from where you were standing. You both ordered the same coffee and sat down at a table,
"What do you do for work?"
"Oh well it's not work yet, just an internship, but hopefully a job soon, my boss said we would talk about it once I finished school, that time has come" you shrugged a little embarrassed.
"Oh, congrats on finishing school, I'm sure you'll get the job" he smiled.
"Thanks, I don't know I'm just nervous to talk to my boss I guess, I'm not really interning in a position I want to be in, I'm hoping he's understanding of my need for a change," you took a sip of your coffee.
"Yeah I get that I guess, I don't know I like my position at work, but then again I don't really have the option of changing positions," he laughed to himself. You flashed a confused smile.
"Well, what do you do then?"
"I don't like bringing it up in public settings, especially around here it'll draw attention," he said softly. You both checked the time on your phones,
"I should get going,"
"Yeah me too," the two of you walked out of the coffee shop together,"It was nice to meet you, Joe,"
"You too Y/N," you both waived goodbye but then began to walk in the same direction. You both laughed at the awkward goodbye.
"Where are you going," you asked.
"Coca-Cola Coliseum, just a few blocks that way," he pointed.
"You're kidding right?"
"What?"
"No it's just that's where I'm going too," you exclaimed.
"Well I guess we have a little more time to spend together then Y/N," he laughed. The two of you began talking as you walked to the arena. He asked you about school, and your internship where you explained your wants and desires.
"So why do you want to change positions, you seem to be doing well in your current one,"
"I don't know I just love hockey, and I was hoping I would be more involved with the team," you shrugged.
