Wind rushing past my body. The screeches of an injured Hippogriff. The aftereffects of the torture curse. I was falling. My vision was starting to go dark, but my grip on my wand was unbroken. I could barely see a blurred figure reaching towards me on a broom, before a bolt of green lightning hit them. Someone shouted those two cursed words once again, and I barely raised my wand in time. "Protego." I shouted, but it sounded like a whisper. I barely saw the protective barrier form, then everything went dark.

When I opened my eyes, I was staring at a full moon. I was lying on my back on the roof of a school bus, and I could feel wet moss soaking through my red and gold vest. I stood up and brushed myself off, still dazed from being hit by Crucio. I took a single step and fell through the roof hatch of the bus. I landed hard on the metal floor, and stood up for the second time in thirty seconds. I raised my wand and cast Wuss, a white glow forming at the tip of the spruce wood. I turned around and came face to face with a human skeleton, lying across the top of the seats.

1 gasped slightly and stepped back, something crunching under my foot. I looked around again, and saw multiple other skeletons. Judging by the empty backpacks and fragile bones, these have been here for a while. After a few moments of silence, the gravity of the last ten minutes hit me. Alex was dead, Wildwing was probably dead or dying, I had no idea where I was, and I was absolutely alone.
Nothing like this was supposed to happen today. I just took Wildwing because I needed to clear my head. Alex shouldn't have even followed me. If I wasn't such a coward, I wouldn't have ran in the first place. The sorting hat itself thought I deserved to be a Gryffindor, but l've never been brave. All I've ever done was make things worse, and I thought this year would be different.

I was doing well in my classes, I had some close friends, hell, I even had a girlfriend. But I just watched her die. My hands started to shake, and I could feel my wand vibrating with energy. I could feel the agony and grief building up inside me. I needed a release. I turned to the front windshield of the bus. "CONFRINGO!" I shouted, a bolt of fire exploding from my wand and through the glass. "DEPULSO! DIFFINDO! EVERTE STATUM!" I started casting the most destructive spells I could think of, just trying to cause as much damage as I could.
I kept casting until my arms were numb and my throat was sore, and then I curled up on an empty, mostly undamaged chair and cried myself to sleep.
