The impatient tapping of fingertips on a wooden table forms an off-key beat as Kurapika sighs vexingly, peering at his watch for the third time today. He sits in a nearly empty cafe at a table by himself while his eyes are trained on the door.

After a few more moments of glaring daggers at the door, it finally bursts open, the bell above it jingling as it does. The waitress cheerfully greets the lanky man who's just entered the building. He says a quick 'hello' back before rushing over to Kurapika's table and sitting down across from him.

"I'm sorry I was late! I overslept!"

Kurapika just crosses his arms, clearly annoyed at the aspect of having to wait for so long, "...I can tell. Your tie is crooked. You should really make it a habit to be on time more often, Leorio."

Leorio hurriedly tries to straighten out his tie as he replies, "Yeah, yeah. We have this discussion every time we meet up."

"Because you have never once been on time," The blonde-haired man simply shakes his head, "But never mind that. How have you been?"

A wide, toothy grin graces Leorio's features, "Great! I passed my anatomy exam the other day!"

"I am elated to hear that," Kurapika picks up his cup of coffee and takes a small sip before placing it back down on the table, "Did you actually study for it this time?"

Leorio nods, "Only because you yelled at me for failing last time."

"You need a firm hand to keep you motivated," Kurapika finds his thoughts racing back to you and lightly shakes his head again, his blonde hair swaying as he does, "Speaking of your studies, I do have something I wish to ask you."

"Sure, what is it?" Leorio begins to read over the menu, trying to decide what sounds good to him today.

Kurapika sets his hand down on top of the menu, pushing it back down onto the table in an effort to force Leorio to make direct eye contact with him. He's boring holes into the back of Leorio's head with his intense gaze as he questions him, "It's about (Y/N)."

"Oh yeah! How are the lessons going?" Leorio seems to be completely ignoring his friend's harsh gaze.

"They are going very well. However, I would very much like to know why you sent her to me when you were made aware that I was no longer giving out lessons," The music teacher does not break eye contact as he awaits his close friend's response.

The lanky man smiles knowingly, "I knew you would cave in for her."

Kurapika's whole face softens and he seems taken aback, "Why- Or how did you know that?"

Leorio can't help but laugh at Kurapika's expression. It's not often that he sees his friend like this, "Because she's a good person. I know you, Kurapika. I knew you wouldn't have it in you to turn away someone as kind as (Y/N) who wanted your help."

He's about to argue back with Leorio but he finds himself at a loss for words when he realizes his friend is completely right. While he still feels annoyed by Leorio sending you over to him with no warning, he can't find it in himself to be upset when he's already so attached to you. Instead, he chuckles softly and remarks, "I suppose you know me too well."

After a few moments of comfortable silence between them, the medical student speaks up, "(Y/N) is really nice, isn't she?"

At the sound of your name, Kurapika finds a smile playing on his lips, "She is. I admit that I've grown quite fond of her."

Leorio seems overjoyed upon hearing this and sets his menu down again, "Really? What do you like about her?"

Kurapika furrows his brow, "Pardon?"
