The Denied Opportunity (pt. 2)

You stirred, grabbing the pillow and hugging it. The sun blinded your eyes when you tried to take a peek at your environment.

"What the...?"

Your eyes widened in fear and quickly tossed the blankets that were toppled over you. The door burst open and out you came running (but tripping) down the hallway. Some parts of the blanket were still wrapped around your ankle as you tried to kick it off.

"Shit. Shit. Shit!" Cursing to yourself, you fail to notice gloved hands wrap around your waist, "Hey! Let-!"

Golden eyes pierced yours.

"Adeptus Xiao..."

"What are you doing in such a hurry? Even after passing out, you still have the courage to leave again..and in such a rush. You humans are incomprehensible."

"I need to leave! Lord Childe and-"

"Lord Childe?"

You gulped realizing your mistake. Saying your superior's name to an Adeptus no less. He was bound to tell the Millelith or worse, the Liyue Qixing about your endeavors.

"Lord Childe? So you serve directly under one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers."

"Yes. He is my superior. He's probably upset about my tardiness. I should go.."

Surprisingly, Xiao released you from his grasp but not without a cost, "Be back by nightfall human."

"I have a name you know!" You stuck your tongue out at him, "And plus, I still need you to tell me what happened after I passed out. Goodbye Adeptus!"

You waved at him before jumping off the railing and landing swiftly on your feet, with the help of your geo vision.

"Can't he use the stairs like everyone else?"

Huai'an sarcastically asked his wife as the two watched from a distance. After hearing the ruckus upstairs, Verr Goldet grabbed her husband's hand and led him to a hiding spot to spy on the two.

"You're obsessed with them." Huai'an flicked his wife's head as she whined and lightly slapped his forearm.

"I've never seen Adeptus Xiao act this way! It's so cute!"

The inn owner rolled his eyes at how giddy his wife had become. She's acting like a frivolous teenager all over again.

"You two can come out now."

Verr Goldet visibly froze at the realization that Xiao knew they were watching everything happen. Huai'an heavily sighed and dragged his wife away from their hiding spot.

"Forgive my nosey wife-"

"Nosey?!"

The couple started to bicker. Xiao turned and stared at the view of the balcony and then onto the railing in which you used as a ledge to jump off of.

"You're la-" Childe stopped mid sentence and stared at your staggered breathing. His eyebrows furrowed, looking skeptical.

"And where have you been?"

"Wangshu Inn-"

"Wangshu Inn?" Childe said the name as if it was an insult to him, "I know I had you chose which location to 'search' but remember Agent (Y/n), this mission is not some free time for you to just explore Liyue."

"I was caught in the middle of something..."

"An agent like you caught in the middle of something?" Childe gave you a skeptic but worried look, "..You're not hurt are you?"
