After Armin was revived, the Scouts were given a memorial for their fallen comrades. Shoto was talking with Katsuki and Izuku about the event that happened earlier, and felt very depressed from it.
Shoto: "Damn, I can't believe this is how you guys handle situations every single day. Does stuff like this happen a lot?"
Katsuki: "Oh, yeah; It's an endless Hell here, Todoroki. Day after day, we have to deal with those abnormal bastards on a daily basis. Sometimes, it can get too intense and exhausting for people to handle each and day while the Scouts are risking their lives for Humanity to keep on living."
Izuku: "Many of our comrades lose their lives when they go out and help kill Titans. It's unavoidable even if they tried. We even lost many of our friends who wanted to see what's beyond the walls."
Suddenly, they overheard Floch giving their friends a hard time about wanting Armin dead, and got annoyed by his behavior.
Shoto: "Hey, Bakugo, Midorya, do you guys see that? It looks like Forster's trying to cause trouble again."
Katsuki: "Yeah, he's really starting to piss me off."
Izuku: "Come on, let's go check it out and see what's happening."
The 3 of them then walked over to the group, and saw how bad the conversation was going.
Eren: "What do you know about Armin to justify saying that!? Not a damn thing!"
Floch: "Yeah, you're right; I'm not a childhood friend of his. Hell, I'm not his friend at all. But, I can still tell you why he's here now. It's cause the 5 of you got emotional and Captain Levi did the same. You made an irrational choice. You treated that syringe like it was yours and wasted it! He's alive because, you think your friends are more important than the rest of us!"
Shoto: "Are you frickin kidding me right now, Forster!?"
Eren then walked up to Floch with Shoto, and threatened him to stop talking.
Eren: "Alright, I think it's time you shut your mouth."
Floch knew that they were both serious, but he kept going.
Floch: "Eren, I bet that even at your core, you still believe that you're completely certain that you're always in the right. That's why you wouldn't give up. You're like a little kid who won't listen to reason."
Mikasa then placed her hands on their shoulders, and tried to make them stop.
Mikasa: "Eren, Shoto, just let it be, alright?"
Floch: "At least Mikasa acted like an adult out there, but I saw her give up in the end."
That comment was enough to make her let go and step back. Shoto saw this reaction, and got mad about it.
Shoto: "Seriously!? What the hell's wrong with you!?"
Jean: "Hey, Floch, let's not do this during the memorial of our fallen comrades."
Connie: "What's done is done; There's no sense in dredging it up again."
Floch: "As for the rest of you, you might not have acted against your superiors, but you didn't try to stop Eren and Mikasa either. You didn't do anything but watch. Medals? For what? A memorial for who? When you guys start rebuilding 'The Survey Corps', you better tell your recruits the truth, or else you'll just end up with cowards like me in the ranks! What the hell are we supposed to do now that we've lost Erwin!? I know that I'm just faughter, I understand that my life's expendable, but still I should get to call it like I see it, and decide if this cost is worth dying for."
After hearing Flocks rant, Armin believed that he was right and spoke up.
Armin: "I think Floch's right; Commander Erwin's the one who should've been saved with the syringe. Maybe he could've turned the situation around. I can't though."
Izuku didn't want Armin to believe it, and decided to comfort him.
Izuku: "Armin, hold on, how can you be so sure about any of that?"
Soon enough, Katsuki and Eren stepped out to help Izuku comfort him.
Katsuki: "Deku's onto something there, Armin. Look, whatever those jackasses say about you being brought back to life instead of Erwin, scratch that from your brain. They just can't understand how painful it is to lose someone who's practically family to you."
Eren: "Never thought I'd actually say it, but he's right. I don't know what choice was right. So, I won't pretend to. None of us know what the future might hold. I mean, we can barely imagine."
Izuku then looked back at Armin, and asked him something important.
Izuku: "Armin, think about it; If we were to go outside of Wall Maria, what would we find?"
Armin: "The Sea?"
Eren: "Yeah, that's right; We'd find the Sea. A place we've only dreamed of. Water that glows like fire, fields of ice, giant rocks that'd take days to climb! How could we be sure of anything when there's so much we haven't seen yet!? On the other side of the wall, freedom is-!"
Suddenly, Eren stopped after seeing painful memories, and froze up. This got Katsuki concerned about him, and checked to make sure he was still okay.
Katsuki: "Eren, you good?"
Eren: "Yeah, I just tensed up a bit there for a moment."
Just then, Levi came over and got everyone lining up for the ceremony to begin.
Levi: "Alright, you brats, it's time; Line up."
As the medals were being handed out, Shoto was deep in his thoughts about everything that he experience in his time with the Scouts. From the look on his face, it was a lot for him to take.
Shoto: "(Oh my God; I can't believe this is what they deal with every single day. If these Titans really are that dangerous to handle on a daily basis, then I have to make sure that all of my friends don't get caught in their grips. Especially Mikasa; I have to keep her safe no matter what.)"
After he had his thoughts settled, they all went back to the bunkers, and got some sleep after a long day.
