After a much dreaded morning routine, I finally decided to get up and attend school. A week and a half was enough to help me gain the courage to be around the person that I still loved so much, but couldn't keep.
I chose a pair of carpenter pants and jumped up as I was trying to fit the waistband over my ass. I looked in the mirror and encouraged myself before choosing a crop top from my closet to cover my half-naked torso.
While I was brushing my teeth, I received a call notification from my phone that was resting on the edge of my sink. I brought it against my ear with a smile after I pressed the green button. The white foam in my mouth spat out and washed away into the darkness of the drain.
"Alice! Hey, how are you doing."
"Good but I should be the one asking you that. How's it going?" Sincerity and worry spiked her voice, I felt horrible for ignoring her.
"I'm good Ally don't worry. Sorry about this whole week I just needed some time to bre-" and that's when the loud slamming on the door began. I rolled my eyes and rinsed my mouth with mouthwash before marching out of the small room.
"Y/n are you ok? And don't apologize I understand... Ro-"
"Don't please, it happened and even though it hurt I forgive her. I'm just not ready to talk to her yet." Or about her in general.
Both lines were silent before I stepped out of the house and almost dropped my phone on the ground. The familiar BMW that I loved to ride in was parked behind my godparents' lived civic.
I ran to the girl with dark hair and soft delicate features. Her eyes showcased that she was indeed my best friend's sister. Her embrace was enough warmth to make me melt into her touch, everything felt peaceful.
I took days off to deal with things but it didn't mean that I didn't have to endure my godparent's constant arguing and my godbrother's loud music. The cigarette smoke still not dissipating making that breath of fresh air I was trying to mention to the girl a lot harder, figuratively and realistically.
"What are you doing here?"
"I also needed a break so here I am, taking you to school and perhaps taking you out to breakfast and making you miss half of school?"
We arrived at a local diner that she loved and we ordered drinks as we sat with open menus, scanning the words on the pages to see which one caught our attention enough to satisfy our cravings.
"You better eat well, your face looks thinner and the last time I saw you was almost 2 weeks ago."
I closed the menu confirming that I was ready. "Yeah well, 2 weeks is a long time. Did you notice that I got taller too? I'm like 187 centimeters now."
"Yeah well, you got prettier too." She followed me by closing her menu and took a sip of her hot chocolate. The whipped cream kissed her nose and left a white dot on the domes that made up her defined yet soft nose.
We continued to order and talked about her newly found man who she was very in love with, finding all her cute stories adorable. She also talked about her stress due to her exams and I had no option but to shower the girl with encouragement and jokes to help her power through the hell of Law school. I admired her, in every way possible. She was kind, highly intelligent, and determined. I also loved that she took time to take care of herself, something I did and learned from her.
"Y/n we can't keep pushing the elephant in the room to the side."
"Obviously, pushing an elephant is only a job for Greek gods." My comment made her lips upturn and drop her head, a section of her hair previously tucked behind her ear falling dramatically.
