She lays on the couch, her eyes heavy and her mind still racing with all the things that could be happening right now. Her phone rings pulling her back out of her thoughts again. She answers the facetime call and she knew who it was before she even looked.
"Detective Benson. Is this what you've been waiting for? You didn't think I wouldn't be back for you did you?"
"What do you want Lewis?"
"Is that really anyway to talk to someone when they have what you want?" He smirks at himself like he's really getting enjoyment out of all of this, and she knew it was because he was. "You're looking a bit under the weather for not being the one who's sitting in the dark waiting to be rescued. I have to tell you, I didn't see you and blondie being the endgame. With the way you'd talked about that old partner of yours, I really thought it'd be him."
"I'm not interested in playing games with you Lewis, you want me and I want you to let Amanda go. You let her go and you can have me back, we both know that's what you really want."
"Fine, I'm going to send you a location and I'm trusting that you're not stupid enough to drive your own car or try and bring backup, right? If this doesn't go exactly how I say, I'll kill the blonde and then I'll still find you and you know that I won't fail. You're all too stupid to know when I'm right in front of your faces so I will find you." The line goes dead, and she pulls her phone out. Where's his text? Where's the address? She goes back to her room and gets dressed. She puts on a pair of jeans and a sweater slipping on her shoes. She knows that he doesn't want her driving her car because it can be tracked. He knows they can track her phone too, so why would he be contacting her through her phone and trust she's not being watched? The second there wasn't something for her to be doing in the exact moment, her brain started working overtime. It didn't even matter. She knew she needed a car and she knew it needed to not be an NYPD issued car. A rental would more than likely be tracked as well. A taxi was probably the safest bet. She sat around anxiously waiting for the next text before she decided to just leave. She evaded the double security posted outside her building and couldn't help but wonder what kind of idiot rookies they had working in the rest of the NYPD. She wasn't trying to commend Lewis on all he'd done, but he'd manage to kill two detectives and take Amanda without a trace and the entire department had nothing on him. She pushed that thought aside and found a taxi. After driving away from Manhattan a short ways, she received his text. She told the Taxi where to drop her and got out. A park? Was he joking? He wanted her at a park? She angrily pulls her phone out of her pocket. She clicks the most recent FaceTime and waits for an answer.
"Is this a joke?" She flips the camera around panning it around the empty park before flipping it back to herself. She lowers her voice bringing the camera closer to her face. "Don't fuck with me Lewis, you lead me to Amanda or I will have every police department within the tri-state area tracking you down, and I will kill you this time."
"If you think this is a joke than you can turn around and drive home and I'll kill the blonde. You know I keep my word, which is more than what can be said for you. There's a car in the far-left lot, inside of the glove box is a burner phone and a map. The phone has limited minutes, so if you call for backup or try and tip anyone off, you won't be able to get the last set of directions and I promise you and Blondie will never see each other again. Leave your phone outside the car and call the number on the map when you reach the end of the directions. And by the way, you're not in the tri-state area anymore sweetheart. We'll talk soon." The line goes dead and she makes her way over to the far-left parking lot. There were few cars in the lot and it was pretty easy to determine the car he'd left for her. It was an older black, four door sedan. The doors were unlocked and she found the key under the visor turning it in the ignition. She buckled her seat belt and reached over to the glove box. There was a flip phone and a map torn from an atlas. What was this 1997? She unfolded the map looking at the directions scribbled across the page. Where was he leading her? She slid the first page out of the way and sat it behind the second one. What the hell did he have in Vermont? She followed the directions until she was completely out of New York. A huge part of her was worried that he was just leading her on a wild goose chase while he got away but she knew two things. The first being that he'd already managed to get away and two, no matter how much she wanted to see him rot in a jail cell or kill him herself - she knew he'd keep his word.
