Silence had overtaken the room. Amanda couldn't find the words to speak and Liv couldn't force herself to say anything else.
"So. Captain Baby Rollins Benson, is it?"
"Lewis, I sweat to God if you don't shut your mouth I-" Lewis gets down to Amanda's level inches away from her face.
"You'll what?" He gives her an amused look and she spits in his face. He wipes the spit from his face seemingly unbothered. "You don't look happy. No celebratory tears of joy? You didn't know. I guess the captain can keep a secret after all." He turns to face Olivia. "Tell me, why the secrecy? You didn't want to share the happy news? Not with Rollins? Your squad?"
"In case you haven't realized, your little vanishing act has had everyone's lives pretty distracted."
"My vanishing act? Let's take a look at your little vanishing act, Captain. Your brutal attacker brilliantly escapes from a maximum security prison, you get in a fight over yours truly with your lover and she runs off. You were overwhelmed with emotions over the newfound bundle of commitment that you kept hidden from your squad because you were having an affair that blew up your relationship and once your fellow detectives found out that you snapped it'll make sense what happened with Rollin's and the pressure got to be too much so you just left it all behind you."
"You've got a vivid imagination. Not that I owe you an explanation, but I didn't tell anyone because I was waiting until it was safe to announce it but you really put a damper on that one. As far as the rest of your story, no one would ever believe that in a million years."
"They don't need to believe it. They'll never fund you and your print's will be the only other prints all over her car, her phone, her. Did you tell anyone you were leaving? Who's to say you didn't meet her before she completely vanished?"
"Oh, okay. And then I stayed up all night with my squad waiting to find a lead and no one could see through my homicidal poker face? You're going to need a better plan."
"He can say whatever he wants, everyone know's you'd never hurt me or anyone else." Amanda scowls in Lewis's direction.
"That's interesting. I've heard that your captain has a tendency to abuse her position of power. I seem to recall her beating me with a metal rod while I was completely restrained."
"And I seem to recall you breaking into my apartment, drugging me, assaulting me, threatening me and holding me at gunpoint. What do you want? Why are we here? The deal was that if you had me Amanda would be safe." Lewis flashes her an amused grin.
"And she is." Liv looks at Amanda and back at Lewis.
"You call this safe? She's safe. Those cuts need to be cleaned before they get infected." Lewis looks at Olivia and walks over to Amanda and unscrews the cap from the bottle dumping it over Amanda's wrist. Amanda cries out in pain as Lewis laughs deviously.
"All disinfected. Any other concerns?" A tear rolls down Liv's face as she hears Amanda's cries of pain and sees her trying to pull herself together.
"I'm so sorry Mandy, I'm so sorry." Amanda looks up at her, tears still in her own eyes.
"Don't." She looks at Liv's face. "Do not apologize. There's nothing he could do that would be your fault. It doesn't matter what he does to me, I'll be okay Liv."
"This is so touching but unfortunately neither of those things are true. You won't be okay and it is in fact her fault." Amanda watches Liv's expression go blank knowing she believes what he's saying and that she won't stop blaming herself no matter how many times she tries to tell her it isn't her fault. Olivia pushes her body forward in the chair, the cuffs clanging on the sides.
"Let her go Lewis. You said if I came you'd let her go." He laughs.
"Yeah, I definitely never said that and it's never going to happen." He pulls a phone out of his pocket. "Oh, look at this. This is unfortunate, for you of course." He flashes the phone towards Liv. Her face goes white and her stomach drops. Amanda looks at her, her face full of concern.
"Liv?" She doesn't respond, her eyes still glued to the screen as he locks the phone sliding it back into his pocket. He smiles and almost looks proud before he retreats back up the stairs, the room going back to dark and the door slamming in an instant. "Liv, say something. What did he show you? What is it? Tell me, please say something." Olivia starts to respond, her voice quiet and small.
"I'm a suspect, in your disappearance."
