Tasha woke the next morning and was so excited about finding the diary that she wanted to tell her mom about it but her mom was already gone to work. Tasha ate some cereal and headed back upstairs to read more of the diary. I'm so glad it's summer so I won't have to work about going to school just yet. I can just waste my day reading this diary. Tasha grabbed a blanket and sat down on her seat at the bay window and continued to read. The next entry was dated April 8, 1875 "I went to meet Samuel at the barn today and he wasn't there and I got so worried. I heard footsteps coming toward the barn and I got so excited and ran to the doorway to embrace my love. As I approached the doorway I seen a big a shadow and realized it wasn't Samuel after all but papa instead. I tried to hide but it was too late. Papa grabbed me by my hair and dragged me to the house. He ripped the back of my dress and began whipping me. He said no daughter of his was going to be a whore. He whipped me so hard my clothes were soaked with my blood. I hate him. Why was I born to such a horrible person? I had to crawl to my room because it hurt so bad to walk." Tasha couldn't believe what happened to that poor girl. Noone deserves to be treated that way. I hope someone saves her from this terrible man. She read onward. The next diary entry was dated April 12, 1875.
"It's been about 6 days since I have seen my sweet Samuel. I miss him so much. I sent a letter to him and told him to meet me at the barn tonight so I could talk with him about leaving. We seen each other for just a few minutes and it felt so good to embrace my love once more. We decided to go ahead and pack our belongings and leave the next day....
